This forum is dedicated to the topics of a religious nature AS THEY RELATE TO DIET AND NUTRITION. This is still a McDougall forum and while topics can and do weave in and out of diet and nutrition threads should still focus on diet and nutrition. Please consider this before posting. This is not a religious (or irriligious) debate board. If you have a question or comment regarding religion and it's related in some way to helping you with this plan, or other aspect of diet please feel free to post. This is NOT a forum for discussing or arguing religion, or as a forum for advancing a particular line of religious thought. Please think twice before posting.

So, just to clarify, is it OK to post excerpts from religious texts for the purpose of meditation or reflection as was done in these threads?

Sure if that helps achieve your diet or weight loss goals. To quote the very first thread you posted..."I have been meditating on in my health and weight loss journey"
It would seem that someone posting anything here would belong to the group they are posting about...Christian, Muslin, athiest, etc.

Jim, some of us here may consider that following the guidance here in regard to diet and health will aid our spiritual progress. It seems that one's faith can help one to succeed with the program and that compliance with the program can be considered part of one's spiritual discipline/growth.

The reason I wrote this is because, for some of us, nothing is more important than our faith. We would not want to simply use our faith to lose weight but if we are gratefully, prayerfully using the advice here to become more like the One who has called us, I think we have the proper order and will be blessed!

We are spiritual beings and we are physical beings and here we can challenge like minded people to more fully reach their potential for spiritual and physical health. :D

Thanks for your efforts to make this a peaceful place! If people are looking for a fight...they can go to a hockey game! :D

I’d say I agree with the Unitarian Universalist Association's philosophy of drawing wisdom from many sources. That includes wisdom from the world’s religions, direct experience of that transcending mystery and wonder, words and deeds of prophetic men and women, spiritual teachings of earth-centered traditions which celebrate the sacred circle of life, and humanist teachings which council us to heed the guidance of reason and the results of science. I love that Unitarian Universalists embrace Christians, Pagans, Humanists, & Atheists/Agnostics. You can be an Atheist and be welcome in a UUA congregation. How great is that? :)
