I've been trying to follow the McDougall plan for about a week now, just the less-processed aspects of it rather than the MWL. I'm not trying to lose weight necessarily (I'm 5'6" and weigh 120 lbs), but I'd been thinking about going vegan for a while after being vegetarian for almost six years and heard good things about the plan. I've cut out all dairy and eggs, all artificial sweeteners, all really processed stuff like boca burgers and whatnot. The restrictions haven't been hard to follow, but...I've been absurdly hungry for the past week. Is this normal? My BMR is somewhere around 1400 calories/day, based on some online calculators, and I certainly meet this minimum requirement. I also exercise regularly -- jog 1.5 miles probably 3-5 days a week -- so I figure my calories are more like 1800-1900. I'm pretty sure I've been right around that or exceeding it everyday. While I don't think I've gained any weight, and may have even lost some, I've never been this hungry before, except when I was really restricting calories.

Not if you are consuming enough of the right foods. In order to follow the program, we recommend you eat until you are comfortable full from the proper foods. When hungry, repeat. So, if you are hungry, then you are either not consuming enough, or choosing some of the more calorie dense foods.

You may want to go to the Hot Topics and review the threads on calorie density, refined vs processed foods and also on how much to eat.
