I know what you mean about not being able to wear heels. it had never occurred to me in my fitter days that I could reach a point where I couldn't wear heels. I couldn't for a long time and now I can sometimes, with just the right pair, and not all day. GOOD FOR YOU!!!

I never thought of just stopping in a clothing store and trying on sizes (with no intentions of buying) just to make me feel good... what a great idea!!

I TRY not to buy stuff that I'm just trying on. It's hard though, when something new and pretty makes me feel good. So...did I buy those shirts I tried on last night? Yes, I did! I argued with myself though. They won't fit me in a few months. But my old clothes don't fit me now. I don't want to look sloppy all the time. So I just buy a few things here and there. I bought some new clothes back in May, quite a few things. I bought two dresses for work which were a smidge too tight. Now they are like tents on me! It's a nice feeling, but I need more clothes! I haven't gotten to the thrift store yet. Do they sell work-type clothes? i guess i won't know til i go check it out.

Congrats on the high heels. What a fun indication of the progress you’ve made. :)

Just a quick note today. had a meeting after work and it's time for bed!

I was SOOOO hungry today! I didn't take a lunch with me to work today (shame, shame), so i went to Wendy's. I was pretty hungry, so I ordered 2 (TWO!!) baked potatoes, a side salad and orange slices. That's a lot of food. And I ate all of it. That was around 12-12:30. By 3 o'clock, I was STARVING!!! The only thing I had to eat at work was some dried chili mango. I ate a couple of pieces, but what I really wanted was another potato! I had a meeting after work, so I didn't get home until about 8:30, still starved to my toes. So I made a huge vat of frozen TJ's rice, frozen TJ's artichoke quarters (YUM!!!), TJ's garlic chipotle salsa (my fav!) and some great northern beans (from Walmart :-D ) After it was all heated it, it was a very large bowl of food. And it went in my very empty tummy! I wonder why some days are hungrier than others. Some days I am perfectly happy with a few potatoes or some beans and tortillas. But I was just a bottemless pit today!

Well, I leave for my conference tomorrow. My mom lives not too far away from there, so I will be staying with her to save money. I plan to eat lots of good McD food! And maybe I'll take one of my McD videos for us to watch. This means I'll miss weigh in day. Maybe I'll weigh in tomorrow. We'll see.

Here's what I ate today:

B-brown rice, raisins, soy milk, brown sugar, cinnamon
L-TWO baked potatoe, salad, orange slices at Wendy's
D-rice, beans, artichokes, salsa
Snacks- dried chili mango, coffee from 7-11

Day 33 of my 100 Day MWL Challenge: almost!
Free eating: nope, Wendy's
Days w/o chips: 22

Well, I had PLANNED to go to bed. But I need to do laundry.

I haven't been getting in my lunch time walks this week. Mostly cuz I've gone out to eat and didn't have time for walking. Well, I shouldn't have worried so much. My laundry room is about a 5 min walk from my apt. By the time I lug the laundry, detergent, fabric softener/dryer sheets, quarters, keys, and reading material to the laundry room, I feel like I am embarking on an arctic expedition! Good lord! Where's the camel? Or the sled dog team? So here's what I walked tonight:

5 mins walk to laundry room, load laundry
5 mins forgot a couple of shirts to wash, back to apt
5 mins retrieved shirts, back to laundry room
wait til wash cycle is done
5 mins put clothes in dryer, head back to apt
5 mins get all the way back to apt and reallize forgot to put in dryer sheet!
5 mins back to apt to wait for dryer cycle
5 mins back to laundry room to retrieve dried laundry
5 mins lug clean clothes back to apt
40 mins total walking!

And did I mention I live on the second floor? Don't forget all of those stairs!

Stairs count double! It's like having your own manual stair master. Sometimes if the weather is crappy I go up and down my stairs for a quick workout. My hubby and the cats think i'm crazy, but it's a great way to get some exercise.

Mary, I'm loving reading your journal. You're working hard and holding yourself accountable. That's great. Keep up the good work, girl, and keep posting. We're all winning our battle with weight a food choice at a time. Shirley

stairs are great! A good substitute for a long walk, if the weather is ick or something. And besides that, lugging the clothing down, and back...that counts for something too

keep on doing it yayayaay!

Well, I've been away for a while. I went to a conference out of taown last week and didn't have internet access. When I got home, my internet connection was working right, so i have only been able to post the occassional message. Let me just say, I miss the board! Posting and reading posts is SOO helpful and supportive for me. I do much better when I can come here every day. So I'm posting this from work (which i don't like to do) so I can at least get something posted for the week.

I decided to try Mary's Mini this week. Or I should say, I've joined the 15 day challenge on the MWL board. I've done pretty well this week. I bought two bags of my favorite jumbo russets and Oreida potatoes were on sale. i bought SIX bags! :-D I've nearly used up all of my potatoes, so gotta get some more.

My weight before I left last week hadn't changed from the week before. After I got back from the conference, I was up a pound. I'm ashamed to say, I gave in to that little voice in the back of my mind that screams "potato chips!" at me all day long. I bought a bag. And ate it. :-( And then i was up THREE pounds! But I've been on track all week. On weigh in day i couldn't post cuz i couldn't get online, but I was back down to my weight from last week. No loss to report. and this morning, I was down a half pound! :) God bless potatoes. And God bless Dr. McDougall!

I've had a crazy, stressful week at work, and next week looks like more of the same. I didn't plan my food very well yesterday. Planning right now means nuking lots of potaotes. So i ended up eating out for lunch and dinner. I had 2 meetings after work and didn't get home til 9:30. I went to a Thai place for lunch. They usually have good veg soup, but yesterday it was all tofu and a few pieces of onion. I HATE tofu! Serves me right though, I should have gone to Wendy's and gotten a baked potato. Dinner was steamed broccoli and rice from a Chinese place. Again not MM but not awful. And right now that little voice in mty head is saying that a pizza would make all of my troubles a little bit easier. It will NOT!! Not even a cheeseless pizza! I'm doing mary's mini!!! but hey...I could make the potato pizzas from the fat free vegan blog. Yay!!

My 100 day MWL challenge: I've totally lost track
Days w/o chips: 4 :-( :-( :-(

What I ate today (so far): I've been eating on a bag of Oreida hash browns most of the day (cooked at home and brought to work). Now I am STARVED. Must go in search of more potatoes.

I had a pretty good weekend. My mom asked me to come over on Saturday to help her with some yard work. We moved a couple of flower beds. it was hard work! But I love gardening. Since I don't have a yard, i have to rely on other people to get my hands dirty. I have to say, digging and lugging is much easier now that I am 50 pounds lighter. I used to get tired so easily, much sooner than I wanted to. But i went all day yesterday. I'm a bit sore today, but not bad.

I took a bag of potatoes with me to mom's house. I wanted to try to stick to mary's mini while I was there. I made that layered potato casserole with spinach and tomato. it was the first time I had made it. I used too much sauce on the bottom layers and didn't have enough sauce to go on top! Those top potato slices kinda shriveled up. But it was very tasty anyway. Next time I'll ration the sauce better and use more nutritional yeast. Nutritional yest kinda weirds me out. I was afraid to use alot of it. Then for dinner, mom made a pan of roasted potatoes, onions and carrots with fresh rosemary. it was SO good! i want to make both of those dishes again.

I've been trying mary's mini this week. So far, so good. A few missteps, but nothing too tragic. I bought two more bags of my favorite jumbo potatoes and 6 more bags of hash browns. I am ready for the week! :-D

What I had today:
B-baked potato
L-hash browns with braggs
D-hash browns with braggs

Days w/o chips: 6

I'm so upset with myself. I had more potato chips yesterday. Why am I doing this to myself? I'm doing really well, so why would I want to sabotage my success? Yes, I'm having a stressful week at work. But it's not the first time or last time. How can eating junk food help me? It only hurts. And it didn't even taste that good!

Even so, I was back on track today. I had 4 baked potatoes. Onward and upward (hopefully).
