I am very excited, at 41 years old, to be entered in to my first Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving day!

It is a four mile race around town and I can't wait!

I have been running since August. I plan on doing it more!

Any other trotters here?

That is so awesome! Enjoy the whole experience and remember to feel proud of your accomplishment no matter where you end up in the pack!!!

Great job! I hope to start entering some 5k's and shorter runs, but I'm not quite ready yet.

Sounds like fun!

:D

I did a morning run today over the course that will be used on Thanksgiving morning. I was happy to have finished it without walking. I used a podcast called Motion Traxx that was playing music specifically at 150 beats per minute. I kept pace with it although I lengthened and shortened my strides over the course.

I didn't eat anything before doing the run and may stay with that for when I run in 2 and a half weeks.

It's a blast! What a great feeling to finish the course without walking!

The Turkey Trot is over and it went great!

I had hoped to get under a 10 minute pace. I have trained for about 10 weeks. I had a few friends with me and we were very excited to see the sun come out on a 45 degree day.

At the first mile, Look! It is my wife and kids handing out water! They were going to cheer from the sidelines somewhere, and they got involved with the water crew. I got to take a water from my own son, Solomon!

They were there on the way back as well because the course looped. It was amazing the energy that I felt from them. It caused me to turn it up a notch and really hit that last mile.

I came in on the 4 mile run with an overall time of 35:30 which is an 8 minute and 52 second pace! I blew sub-10 out of the water!

I was so exhilarated and just happy with the day and the whole experience. It truly was McDougall phase 2. Phase 1 was losing the weight. Phase 2 is being active on a diet that people think will not sustain activity.

I DID IT!

Phase 3? Phase 3 is the Cleveland Marathon in May. I start training in January.

Thank you, Dr. McDougall. Without your books and message, I would not have had this day!

WAY cool, Glook!

And your descriptions of Phase 1, 2 and 3 are inspiring, too....just like your race story!

How do you feel today?
