The Turkey Trot is over and it went great!
I had hoped to get under a 10 minute pace. I have trained for about 10 weeks. I had a few friends with me and we were very excited to see the sun come out on a 45 degree day.
At the first mile, Look! It is my wife and kids handing out water! They were going to cheer from the sidelines somewhere, and they got involved with the water crew. I got to take a water from my own son, Solomon!
They were there on the way back as well because the course looped. It was amazing the energy that I felt from them. It caused me to turn it up a notch and really hit that last mile.
I came in on the 4 mile run with an overall time of 35:30 which is an 8 minute and 52 second pace! I blew sub-10 out of the water!
I was so exhilarated and just happy with the day and the whole experience. It truly was McDougall phase 2. Phase 1 was losing the weight. Phase 2 is being active on a diet that people think will not sustain activity.
I DID IT!
Phase 3? Phase 3 is the Cleveland Marathon in May. I start training in January.
Thank you, Dr. McDougall. Without your books and message, I would not have had this day!
