I'm not sure why my ankles have been tweaky lately. I increased my exercise dramatically this month, so it could be a combination of factors. I've overtrained twice before so I know what to look out for and when to take it easy. Do not want to ever do that again!
Besides doing the core workout most days (still on the first workout), I have a one-hour self-defense class twice a week. That class starts with aerobic workouts to warm up, then we have core work (yes, more core!), and then I've been bicycling this month for transportaiton. As of today's ride (22 mile RT for the class), I've put over 300 miles on the bike this month.
When I talked with my chiropractor about my ankles, she had two suggestions. One was to stretch well after each ride and the other was to make sure I'm pedaling smoothly. She thought I could maybe be getting the pain from "stomping" on the pedals at the bottom. Between the couple days off from the core workout, and applying her recommendations, my ankles are doing much better.
