Glad to hear you are still doing them. I'd be surprised if they were hurting your ankles. Keep us posted.

When I started it was the arms and shoulders that hurt so bad.

Yes, please do keep us posted. I haven't heard of anyone's ankles hurting from doing hovers but maybe you are the first.

Make sure your toes are pointed straight down and that your toes and ankles are in perfect alignment. Toes right under your ankles. Happy hovering!

I'm not sure why my ankles have been tweaky lately. I increased my exercise dramatically this month, so it could be a combination of factors. I've overtrained twice before so I know what to look out for and when to take it easy. Do not want to ever do that again!

Besides doing the core workout most days (still on the first workout), I have a one-hour self-defense class twice a week. That class starts with aerobic workouts to warm up, then we have core work (yes, more core!), and then I've been bicycling this month for transportaiton. As of today's ride (22 mile RT for the class), I've put over 300 miles on the bike this month.

When I talked with my chiropractor about my ankles, she had two suggestions. One was to stretch well after each ride and the other was to make sure I'm pedaling smoothly. She thought I could maybe be getting the pain from "stomping" on the pedals at the bottom. Between the couple days off from the core workout, and applying her recommendations, my ankles are doing much better.

Thats great Chile! Hopefully you'll be back to normal and getting even stronger in no time!
Like i said I haven't been doing the full core workout but give myself props when I do even some of it. I actually haven't worked out since Monday and am feeling shameful because last week I only worked out once.. ugh.. I just get off work annoyed, exhausted and moody and don't want to work out. I just want to eat, sleep and spend time with my bf.. And I have to get up at 4:30am to workout in the morning and that makes me even MORE cranky..hhmmm.. a little venting I guess today.
I'm going hiking after work today even if it kills me.. Or somebody else. ; )

I skipped the core workout yesterday because we did a lot of core work in the self-defense class (20 bicycle crunches at the beginning, 25 at the end, 25 "snakes" - hard to describe, 25 flutter kicks, plank for a minute, and side plank for 30 seconds.) I didn't feel up to doing more when I got home, especially since I kind of "hit the wall" on the ride home and ran out of energy. I slept instead of working out more.

I think if you are doing the core at class then you are safe to take the day off of this one. I'd be doing it. I'm also glad the ankles are feeling better and that Derrick made some suggestions for you. I think cycling would work them worse than our core exercises.

Good job Chile. I know it's hot there too.

Between the core workouts and the 15 pounds I've lost since I started the core challenge - thanks to getting back on track with the food and biking over 335 miles so far this month - I am now wearing pants that were too tight last month. They feel good! :D

Hows everyone doing? Seems like we aren't posting as much. I basically stopped for a while there but I'm going to print out a new sheet because I lost the last one and start back on week 3 again.
That sounds like great progress Chile!! Good job!

Nice work Chile! That is the power of consistency. Doing a little bit every day delivers the results you are after. Keep it up.

I just discovered this thread, and I've been reading it with great interest. I've been looking for ways to increase my exercise. I think I might give this core challenge a try. I'm getting ready to leave for a vacation, so I'll have to wait to start until I get back. But I've tried a few of the assessment tests. Boy, do I stink! :) I can do the hover for about a half second. But at least I have LOTS of room for improvement!

I love it that the first test is the plank! hahaha! I'll get about five seconds before I collapse, I'm sure...but I already had decided that if I had to make up my own workout, the plank would be my first and most important exercise. there's just something about that exercise that FEELS strong, immediately.

even though we're about a week into September, count me in on the exercise routine. yay!

How are you all doing? Is there anything I can help with?

I hate to admit it, but I haven't done any core work in about two weeks. I have a reasonable excuse, or so I'd like to think. It turns out that my huge increase in biking (I've gone over 600 miles since Aug 1) led to overtraining syndrome. I've had to take it very easy for the past week and a half. I'm just now starting to feel like I might be recovering and plan to slowly re-introduce the core workouts and easy cycling.

Deb - yes, I'll go start up on your new thread.
