b12 and hypertension?

Postby kayakrkayakr » Sun Feb 09, 2014 4:13 pm

I'm 48 and have been vegan for about 4 years. I eat too much salt and have ignored B12. Cholesterol is really low and arthris inflammation is way down so I'm eating well enough to help with that. Recently I suspect I've got some B12 deficiency symptoms. Can hypertension also be a symptom? I've always had good BP but it's also higher than desired right now too.

You need to read J. Kenny's article on salt toxicity (from Jeff's site). Elevated BP likely just the tip of the iceberg.
No B12 supplementation for 4 years? What are you waiting for? Cheap/non-toxic makes it a no-brainer.

B12 deficiency does not raise blood pressure. But, you need to get 5 mcg of B12 daily. Just do it. It's too risky not to and it can't hurt you. -Jeff
