I've been testing my urine lately, and it is pretty much always acidic, never more than around 6. I'm eating pure whole foods vegan, but can't seem to bring it up without supplements. Has anyone else had this? Have you found anything to be helpful?

My kids are eating what I eat, but most of them have much more alkaline urine. Can different people eat the same thing, but their bodies just process it differently?

Everything I read seems to say that vegans have more alkaline urine than non-vegans, but I'm thinking maybe a vegan diet isn't enough for my body to alkalize. I know Dr. McD is against supplements, but I'm wondering if some of us need them in some areas.

Hello,

Testing the pH of your urine tells you nothing except the pH of the urine. If it was a scientifically valid diagnostic tool, then Dr. McD and Jeff and all other credible health professionals would be recommending it to everyone. They do not though, as it is at best a parlor trick and at worst quackery. If I were you I would view anyone promoting it in a very suspicious light.

Their views on supplementation is very clear. Do a search of Jeff's forum if you like. It is very helpful.

Good Luck!

Thanks, Nick. Maybe I'm worrying too much about this.
