Debi, that's such awesome news! I'm so happy for you, and I know you are getting healthier and healthier each day. I think believing that you and your body can heal is the first step to doing so. You go, girl!

I am so grateful to Dr. McDougall and all of the great doctors that teach people to eat a plant strong diet. I am maintaining my health with no medications whatsoever now. Months ago, I was severely anemic and getting iron infusions often. I was on four, sometimes five medications. I suffered from many of the side effects of end stage renal failure and hypertension.

My doctors told me that I would never be able to stop taking my blood pressure medication and that I would be on dialysis soon. That was two years ago. I have been completely plant strong since November of 2011 and wow... that is all I can say...wow. My body is happier and healthier than it has ever been and truthfully healthier than I even imagined it could be.

I am taking NO medications and I am now in Stage 4 with my renal failure. I have no symptoms of any disease. I have not had the need for an iron infusion for almost 10 months now and I was getting them almost bi-monthly last year. I am no longer seeing a nephrologist regularly. I send him my labs occasionally when I get them done, but I don't even do that regularly anymore.

I do not watch my diet at all as far as how much protein or potassium I am getting. I just eat plant strong and enjoy my meals very much. My levels of sodium, potassium, phosphorus and calcium are always in the normal ranges and my blood pressure is always between 116/62 and 120/70.

I honestly don't even feel like a kidney patient anymore, except for the fistula in my arm that reminds me. ;) I guess, in a way, it is a good reminder for me to stay on track and eat plant strong. I joked with my surgeon and doctors that it was the fistula that would never be used. Truth!

Wow! Congratulations on your successes, Debi. I hope your story encourages others to a healthier, disease halting path, as well. It's amazing what our bodies can do when we let them.
