If you have not yet, read THE PLEASURE TRAP by Doug Lisle. They do put a cocaine analogue in fast food. It's called lots of fat, sugar, and salt! And it works!!!!

You are right. Yes I watched a video from the pleasure trap author available on youtube and it was a turning point for me. I suffered anxiety and feelings of dread when I got off meat and fast food. Then I watched the video and had a good laugh at myself. Armed with his information really put me back in the driver's seat. ANYONE who struggles with weight issues should read that book or see the video.

My challenge has been and will always be I live with people who don't follow what I do, so their food is always in front of me. But there are lots of folks in that boat. I haven't had any fast food or pizza in over a month. Even then, it was more of a treat and not an every day thing. But I told my wife they must put cocain in fast food because it tasted so good and I wanted more. Slowly but surely I've changed my thought process: what food will cure me and what food will kill me. I have a 5 day road trip coming up that we be a challenge.

I, too had my gall bladder removed and cannot process fatty foods. Keep strong! The longer you go without fat, salt and sugar the less you will crave them. As for your road trip, be sure and pack a refrigerated bag full of baked potatoes with McDougall legal toppings to add and lots of fresh fruit. If you must stop at a fast food place make it Wendy's and have a plain potato and a salad.

Wow. Wendys. I never thought of that! I can't carry a cooler or that would have been an excellent idea.

15 lbs gone as of this morning.

I use a jar type Thermos to carry food, it's small but holds 2 cups of food...maybe that would work for you?

If I can just find a grocery store each day I should be okay.

Thank you all. I had my gall bladder out two weeks ago and now I am still experiencing pain.

I have not been 100% unfortunately so all this I bring on myself by not eatting plant strong.

thanks for sharing your experiences. this helps a lot

Cathy

I'm sorry to hear that you had surgery, not fun! It takes awhile before you'll feel better, but if you eliminate all oil, meat, and dairy, that's a good start. Those three are the biggest culprits. Hope you feel better soon! :)

Are you absolutely certain that the pain you felt was from gall bladder or that now that it has been removed from the bile being produced? Could it possibly be some kind of referred pain from blocked arteries in the heart caused by the clumping and slowing down of blood flow due to the fat you have eaten? Cutting out the meat, dairy and fat in your diet might be solving problems you are not even aware of.

The way it was explained there is something wrong with the bile duct system. It may not have been the gall bladder but it took the punishment while it was there and failed. It didn't look good the surgeon said. But now that it is gone whatever was making me sick is still there and its still making me sick. But there is nothing they can do so.

I got my MWL book out and have started making recipes from it to eat. I'm hoping for after two months I will feel better and convince my husband this is the way we need to eat.

Thanks for the input!

Cathy

I think this is my problem too. We are in the same boat.

This reminded me of my gramma's story. She had her gallbladder out twice. I guess the first time they left part :?: or something, and she kept having problems so they had to go in and finish the job. This was probably 50 some years ago.

Hope they didn't leave a sponge or drop a pair of tweezers in there and not tell her. Crazy things can happen in surgery. :duh:

Cleaning up your diet will almost certainly help your digestive system.

After I had my gallbladder out (I think that was in '86. I was only around 25.), I slept with a pillow over my stomach for several months. Even years after, I'd occasionally feel a twinge or pinching sensation where they cut through the muscle in my abdomen. I have a pretty long scar, and several times over the years medical personnel have asked me what it was from. They don't do those wide open gallbladder surgeries so much any more, I guess. People I know who've had to have gallbladder surgery since then have all had the laser procedure. Lucky ducks.

Okletsee:

I had my gallbladder out just this January and I have been on McDougall MWL with one or two exceptions, since January. The last meal I had prior to the GB attack ( the one that took me off to the hospital) was a REALLY HIGH FAT vegan restaurant meal. It was hidden nut fat, so I didn't know it was there at all.

Since then I have had a couple SAD meals with my family, like at Easter. From those meals I can tell you for certain -- every time now a lot of fat gets into my system, I can still feel twinges of pain.

Yet, eating a home cooked meal, even a really sumptuous one, is no match for the amount of fat that goes into a fast food meal. I wouldn't hink of doing that. OMG, ouch - it hurts me just to think of how bad that would be!

Although I do have some minor blockage in one spot, I do not have angina even with moderate excersise. But you are right on your last sentance none the less.

I had what I'm sure was a gall bladder attack a couple of years ago after a very high fat meal. I hope to never experience that again! I don't think I will now that I eat a low fat, plant based, whole foods diet. I love it so much I know I could never go back to my old way of eating!!
