Can anyone tell me what ingredients this product has in it? I couldn't find out on the healthy-eating web site and my searches weren't fruitful. I don't want to get it if it has any carrageenan it. I'm okay with guar gum, but carrageenan doesn't like me.

Anyone?

The stuff is expensive and, honestly, isn't the least bit necessary. I bought a jar once upon a time, tried it once, and ended up throwing the rest away after it sat in my fridge, unused, for months.

Plain old applesauce or prune puree will give you the same results. I read somewhere that you can make your own Wonderslim by mixing equal amounts of unsweetened apple butter and prune puree. I haven't tried it though because applesauce is cheap, easy, and always gives me good results.

Where do you get prune puree? Baby food?

You can make your own by cooking dried prunes with a little bit of water and mashing them up ... same as making date paste [which is great for sweetening things without sugar].

Or you can do it the lazy way and use baby food prunes. I will happily admit that I am extremely lazy and I go this route whenever I need prune puree. :D

Thank you all for your inputs. I had heard of using applesauce years ago, but wasn't sure how much it would affect my brownie recipe.

I have a jar of soy lecithin left over from my days of experimenting making my own chocolate bars. Does anyone use that sparingly for any recipes?

So, you don't repace egg in recipes (again....like my brownie recipe) with the Ener-G Egg Replacer either then? Or, do you use something?

You can use one of the "natural" brands - no sugar or salt added, or just toss a few prunes into a food processor. I have a mini-processor from Black and Decker that's about 2 cups in size that's perfect for stuff like that. Or just use a blender and add a teeny bit of water if it's needed.

We make McDougall brownies around here often :D . I use the Ener-G egg replacer as called for, and baby food prunes in place of the Wonderslim. They come out great every time. I was considering sending away for some real Wonderslim, but it sounds like it would just be a major expense with no better results - thanks!
