Yonanas

Postby Sweet Potato » Thu Jun 14, 2012 6:47 pm

This afternoon I bought a Yonanas ice cream maker.
I just love it. My first go I made bananas with mixed berries.
I think I'm going to like this more than ice cream made in the Vitamix.
It's amazing how creamy the bananas were and much ice cream like... Firmer and colder. One of the best things is you don't have to add milk.

One of our nearby grocery stores sells huge boxes of bananas for $1.50 because they think the the little bit of brown on them makes them bad. They don't know that's when they taste the best. When our family can't eat the whole box, I freeze the rest for yonana ice cream. I have a freezer full of bananas. I think you get the best results if you pull them out of the freezer for about 5 minutes to thaw a little.

Wow, Krish! A huge box of bananas for $1.50. People just don't realise that a banana is at its sweetest when it's spotted. I only ever buy bananas when they are discounted and if I have excess I also freeze them. I often top my oatmeal with a banana taken out of the freezer. I agree that they have to be eaten within about five minutes once removed from the freezer whilst they still remain firm and before they turn 'mushy'.

I started another thread about Yonanas. I bought mine and tried it for the first time yesterday. I just made regular banana ice cream, but it was delicious, and creamy. I'm dying to try the Pumpkin Pie recipe. It sounds so yummy. I put my bananas in the microwave for 20 seconds before I run them through the machine.

We use our Yonanas maker every single night. Our favorite is bananas and cherries. I also make a sauce with mashed bananas, almond milk and cocoa powder to serve over top. It is the highlight of my day to sit with the hubby and enjoy a bowl! You can get the machines at Bed, Bath and Beyond around here (Pacific Northwest) for the cheapest price...just have to use the 20% off coupon. It makes the machine $40...well worth it!

I got mine for Christmas and it's been one of the most fun gifts. I make it often for Mom and I.

Here it is, healthnut.

In a bowl, combine one 15 ounce can of pumpkin puree with 1 tsp. vanilla extract, 1 tsp. ground cinnamon, and 1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg. Spoon spiced pumpkin puree into ice cube trays and freeze. One spiced pumpkin ice cube is approximately 1 ounce. Makes approximately 15 cubes.

Pumpkin Pie

1. Insert one frozen banana into machine.
2. Add 3 ounces frozen spiced pumpkin cubes (3 frozen cubes)
3. Insert second frozen banana
4. Stir in bowl to combine
5. Sprinkle crumbled ginger snap cookies on top

I really like pumpkin pie, In fact, we get a chance to bake that kind of pie, and it tastes really delicious. It’s not only delicious when it comes to tasting but pumpkin pie also has benefits to our health.

I haven' t receive notification of all the posts.
Yes, I noticed the other posts re Yonanas too late. This is a popular topic

I have made banana with mixed berries, peaches and blueberries and mango and pineapple which is my favorite so far. The raspberry lime is calling out to me.

I agree that the bananas alone are delicious.

This little machine has put an end to my dreams about Dairy Queen...
