Can plantains be made "un" fried? I miss them.

I saute them in vege water or roast them when I'm roasting root veges.

You can bake them. Even though they are called 'cooking bananas' you don't have to cook them. They can be eaten raw, however you have to wait until the skin blackens which is when a plantain is fully ripe. I wait until the skin is almost totally black and the plantain softens - Delicious! I think most people would think the plantain is rotten and would have thrown it out long before that which is a mistake.

I have been craving tostones myself. :D I found this recipe and a few others like it.
