I am not sure whether to post this here or not, I tried on the garden board, and no answer.

I make Mung bean sprouts fairly often. I love it on my salads, and also mix it into my dinners. I have been trying to come up with a simple way to get the shells away from the sprouts. I have also been trying to come up with a way to get the empty shells out and away from the sprouts. It all seems to cling. So even if I have my naked sprout, a shell will probably be sticking to it.

I've tried soaking the sprouts in water and then flicking the shells out or scooping them up. But it is near impossible to get them and and if they are still attached to the sprout, it is impossible.

Any suggestions. I feel like I am missing something.

Honest answer. I don't bother. I just grap a handfull of sprouts out of the tray and throw them into my salad and eat them, seed casings and all. More fiber for me :D .

In Asian restaurants I sometimes see the waithelp hand shelling the bean sprouts.. that is what I imagine they are doing. Which reminds me I have to pick some up today:)

Thanks yeah I don't mind eating them either. I am not sure company would be excited about it, or if I want a dish to be pretty. The casings fall off and it just doesn't look appealing - but maybe it's just me.

You'd think with all the gadgets in the world something would have been developed to get the casing or shell away from the mung bean sprout. :-D
