"The Starch Solution", like the food it describes, works in the mind like starch does in the body.

The book is highly readable, easy to digest, nourishing and fulfilling.

It's succinct, without an excess of information.

It's well laid out, and it's captivating.

It's an impressive, impactful, unmistakably clear explanation of what Dr. McDougall has been saying for years.

Dr. McDougall's direct style is refreshing, and entertaining as well.

"The Starch Solution" is Dr. McDougall at his best. He is in rare form!

Thanks, Dr. McDougall, for breaking down STARCH and making it completely digestible for the mind.

Thanks, pinkrose!

I went to post on Amazon but I'm required to have ordered (anything) and I haven't. I wonder if someone else can post for me. I have a couple friends who I'll see if they can do it.

Barb,

I agree with you. It's his best book. I have read everything he writes and have since the McDougall Plan came out many moons ago. I promptly bought 5 more copies. Three are currently given out. However, I am beginning to believe that my greatest aspiration in life would be if the info actually spurred someone like my obese daughter to action. I bought 20 copies of the China Study when it came out and gave them out. They are currently gathering dust in 20 separate locations. LarryG

I also have an obese daughter and I tried that route of buying some of the McDougall books for her to read. I don't think she ever opened any of them.

She is 42 years old and just had surgery to clean out the 80% blockage in her carotid arteries. She still won't read McDougall.

I don't sweat it anymore, she is a fat and diabetic, waiting for the first heart attack.

There are so many people I would love to have read this book, and I would buy it if they would. But I have learned that most aren't interested in changing their habits. It's easier to blame their health on genetics.

I had high hopes for one friend, I sent her the video of the woman who got rid of her psoriasis. She has been battling psoriasis for most of her 67 years. She bought the book, started McDougalling and told me she was seeing progress. Psoriasis was better and she was losing weight. A month later we had lunch at a salad bar and she had cheese all over her salad. When I asked her about it she said "That diet is too hard." Seems to me it would be harder to live with psoriasis than without cheese, but that's just me.

I have friends that are on drugs for diabetes eating ice cream and potato chips while criticizing my diet. Same with drugs for blood pressure, cholesterol, you name it. They seem to think they can eat whatever they want, take a pill, and if their doctor says they have good numbers they must be healthy. And they think that me having good numbers without drugs is just luck.

I am so thankful I found this WOE before I started having all those issues.
