Hello! I am new to this website but looking to change my life. I have struggled with constant food anxiety for a while now, and have been having a bingeing problem on all the wrong types of foods. I have realized their terrible affects on my mind and body, I have gained at least 20 lbs. in the past 2 years and this has made me extremely uncomfortable just getting around in my daily life, especially since I was quite fit in my past. I would really like to turn my life around and start on this plant based diet. I'm just not sure what it exactly entails. If someone could just give me a overview on the diets specifics and details I would be so appreciative!

Thanks for your time! Its so wonderful to finally find some support!

The program is explained fully here:

http://www.drmcdougall.com/free.html

And I very much recommend that you get at least one book of Dr. McD's like this one:

http://www.drmcdougall.com/store_starch_solution.html

But basically. . .

Eat NO:
No meat (includes fish, chicken, etc.)
No dairy (no milk, cheese, yogurt, butter, etc)
    No eggs
    No oil of any kind

Eat lots of:
Whole complex carbs/starches (brown rice, oatmeal, other whole grains, potatoes, corn) in their natural states
    Green and yellow veggies

Eat some:
    Beans
    Fruit
Lightly processed foods (whole grain bread or pasta)

Eat only a little:
Calorie dense foods in their natural states (nuts, avocados)
    Processed foods

And ENJOY GREAT HEALTH! :)

Trust me on this: One day you'll wake up and realize that it no longer feels like "being strict." It just feels GOOD. :)

In addition to ETeSelle's recommendations, you might want to get Dr. Doug Lisle's DVD The Pleasure Trap, in which he explains the addictive qualities of fat, sugar and salt.

For someone addicted to certain foods, usually only complete abstinence will be successful in getting you off the bingeing treadmill.
