I have had problems with panic and anxiety and depression for a long time...Is there any special aspect of the McD plan that I should be paying attention to.. I have been very disappointed in in the standard psychiatric treatments....thanks from harry.

I would suggest that you email Dr. McDougall directly. He would know best how to proceed, especially if you are coming off medication.

Also, get the book The Pleasure Trap by Doug Lisle and Alan Goldhamer. It contains excellent information about how diet effects serotonin levels in the brain.

As Katy said, you can contact Dr. McDougall directly.

I would also be very strict MWL. Many ingredients in processed foods can be a catalyst. Eliminate any alcohol and caffeine. Also, if you are taking any medications, check the side effects.

I had a period of severe panic attacks but have not had one since I changed to this WOE.

Also, in addition to the other advice you received, it is widely accepted in the medical establishment that exercise helps relieve depression and anxiety. Try to walk or get some other form of exercise every day - even if you don't feel like it. Especially if you don't feel like it!

i am now walking every day rain or shine..after 3 months of this W.O.E. i walk faster and dont stop..i do feel a little more energy...
