I am trying to figure out why I can not lose weight,
and I am checking out all the ingredients I use.

Is ketchup "Heinz" type (or similar i buy from supermarkets) legal to DrMcDougall Diet principals?
I know it has sugar in it - so can I use it? if yes in what quantities ?

Did Star Mcdougallers used that kind of ketchup?
Some feedback would be much appreciated!
Thank you.

Typically, items like ketchup, mustard, and other flavor enhancing sauces are fine IF used as a condiment. This means you might want to cut back if you are slathering some food item in a bath of a particular sauce that might not meet Dr. McDougalls requirements on a per calorie basis. Usually, if used sensibly, this will not derail you in your goals. It is possible to be overusing a particular product just through an out of control craving leading you to over consume not only the particular product but whatever you are putting it on. A good guide might be to ask yourself how long a particular sized container lasts you.

Yes, I use ketchup as a condiment. It's one of my favorites. I keep conscious of the fact that it is high in salt, and I avoid the ones (like Heinz in the US) that sweeten with high fructose corn syrup and go for cane sugar instead. But keep in mind condiment-size portions--one or two tablespoons to a big bowl of food--not 1/4 cup or anything, and not every day.
