It would be nice if we could have a link to 'like' a post as on diabeticsforum.com. It's a way to give positive feed-back to someone's comments when you don't have the time or inclination to post yourself.

I agree. I am on other forums where there are options to like or dislike, thumbs up or thumbs down, or simply, "Did you find this post helpful?".

There is always the concern that someone offers advice that goes contrary to what Dr. McDougall would suggest, or for whatever reason, may not be the best advice to give out. A quick glance at how many people liked or disliked a post is an indicator even a newbie to the forum can use to gauge whether a particular post has information the people here feel is worth paying attention to.

Also, it is a quick and easy way to give feedback to the poster. If there aren't a lot of comments on your post but a lot of people "liked" it, you know that it was read and appreciated. There are people here who post a LOT of links to things they think we'd all find interesting. I seldom comment on them unless I have a really strong opinion, but it'd be nice to be able to offer the kind of feedback a "like" option allows.

I agree - I often catch myself looking for the "like" button.

There is a 'like' smiley. You just have to click on the 'view more smilies' link to get to it
