This is just something cute I tell my DS.

I make up a big batch of toasted whole grains (steel cut oats, quinoa, red sorghum, whole barley) for breakfast and after I put it on the table, we go for a little walk around to let it cool, just like the three bears. He was on an anti-oatmeal kick for awhile and this got us right back into eating hot breakfasts again.

That's so sweet!
Tell me about your toasted grains. What do you use and how do you prepare them? Do you eat them like granola, or cook them like porridge?

To prepare the porridge, I toasted a variety of whole grains at 325 for 20 minutes and then cooked them using a 3:1 ratio of water to grains. I think if I make this particular mix again, I would blend/process them after toasted to make for a smoother, more Cream of Wheat, type cereal. We had them with some nuts and honey on top.
