No matter if you take the Bible literally and very seriously OR if you think it is a simply book of mythology and legends and stories, I think most people will agree that Jesus (Christ) is the reason for the Christmas celebration. (Please let's NOT argue about this point in THIS thread. I am just trying to give everyone a Christmas present -- not trying to start a debate!)

Plus, I think many people enjoy getting caught up in the season and giving and receiving Christmas presents regardless of what they believe.

So, here is my gift to everyone. It is a virtual 3D animated mini-movie (made by me) depicting a simple little Christmas pageant. I hope EVERYONE can enjoy it -- either as a little video of a mythological legend about why we give Christmas presents OR as a simple but serious depiction of a very holy and spiritual event. It was primarily made as a Christmas present for my husband’s young grandchildren. That is why the story line is kept simple.

It is at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7wtMbQNZdMA

For the best viewing quality, set the “p” to “1080p” at the bottom of the YouTube viewer and then click FULL SCREEN. It might take a while to load (because it is High Definition), so you might want to let the “little pink line” at the bottom of the viewer get a good head start before starting the video.

Please keep in mind that I am just an amateur at making virtual 3D animations and I still have much more to learn. Unfortunately, the audio is not as good as it should be because a few noises from a rotating fan, that was not quite far enough away, got into some of my narration recordings. Sorry about that. Will know better, next time.

If anyone is interested, more of my animations are on my YouTube Channel (stinkbugb2008). The one that I am the proudest of (for its CONTENT contributed by others -- not for my unprofessional work) is titled “Appalachian Coal’s Dirty Trail” at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hRCAQX7uRiM

It was made at the request of good ol’ Groundhogg who used to post on the McDougall Board. The video depicts the destruction, pollution, and irreversible damage caused by mountaintop removal coal mining and coal usage in general. I even managed to get off on a very quick tangent about global warming and how eating plant-based can help. Even put a link to Dr. McDougall’s site at the bottom of the list of credits as my source info about what an earth-friendly AND healthy diet is. (I try to sneak Dr. McDougall’s message into as many of my videos as possible!)

Now, many of you are thinking about what presents to buy and what McDougall dishes to prepare for the upcoming holidays. Just think, 2000 years ago, most people (except for the very wealthy) ate a LOT healthier than most do today. What happened to us?

Happy McDougalling and a very early Merry Christmas!

Thank you! I thought you did a wonderful job with the animation. It's a Wonderful message and I appreciate you sharing it. After all, He (Christ) is the reason for the season.

Thank you, blessedmomof3 and pinkrose!

Pinkrose, I am so sorry "they" won't let you view it. Well, it will be on my YouTube channel INDEFINITELY. So, maybe (HOPEFULLY) one day you will find a way to view it.

Happy McDougalling!

Wow! It was really touching.Maybe Dec.25th is really not HIS birthday but still HE is the reason why we do celebrate it. I think people also love the idea of gift-giving and receiving and most importantly sharing because they think they're doing it for HIM. :-)

Thank you, aprilmay! Glad you enjoyed it!

You know, I thought that making a Christmas pageant animation would be a very simple and straight forward little project but it ended up being much more complicated than I ever imagined! :)

First, I CAREFULLY read those parts of the Bible, in various translations, and tried to get as close to the original Greek meaning, as possible. Then, I started wondering about little details such as hair styles, clothing, head ware, specific dates, etc. So, I searched the web for info about when Jesus was born and about how he dressed, etc.

Unfortunately, the more info I found, the more confused I became! :? Every site had a different idea of when Jesus was born and how he looked! Some said he was born in a cave because caves served as backrooms/storage rooms to a good number of the houses in Bethlehem, some said a stable, some said just a backroom (not a cave) of a house that had a manger in it because, during bad weather, folks let their animals come into the backrooms of their houses. WOW! Decisions, decisions, decisions! (I ended up going with a cave that was a backroom with a manger in it. Hahaha! )

Plus, in the video, I did not give any specific dates/seasons (except for our present-day Christmas season) and stuck to the basic "Western stereo type" of how Jesus "may have looked" as an adult.

I am GUESSING that Jesus' birth took place somewhere between 7 and 4 BC -- probably around 5 BC. This is due to the fact King Herod the Great died in 4 BC. Since our present-day Christmas celebration is held on Dec. 25, I included that celebration in the video -- and uploaded in plenty time for that -- even though that is most likely NOT the actual date of Jesus' birth.

The map of the Roman Empire (from the http://www.timemaps.com site) is the empire at AD 1. That was the closest I could find to 5 BC. I do NOT think that the borders of the empire changed very drastically during those few years. (Well, I HOPE they did not, anyway! :D )

BUT, I enjoyed the challenge of making this “mini-movie” (as I like to call my projects) and I am SO GLAD that some folks ACTUALLY like it!

Happy McDougalling!
