Pinkrose & Luvoatmeal
I am a simple God fearing woman. My daughter is still in high school. She is a vegan. So are lots of her friends. They are very worried about factory farms. My son lives at home but goes to community college and works. He and my husband do eat meat. But praise God, not as much as in prior years. I have suffered with intestinal problems for many years until the Lord lead me to Dr. McDougall. I saw him on TBN and got his book. Now I am free of all symptoms, and I give thanks for this miracle every day. I just eat cooked potatoes and vegetables. I usually make them into some kind of soup or stew. I also eat some fruit in season. But I cook traditional foods for my husband and son.

Well thank you satan's foe for sharing about yourself. I have a son that is in community college and lives at home too! He has one more year and then will transfer to the 4 year university near us as a business major. What is your son interested in?

That's great that your daughter is vegan too as well as her friends. To me that seems rare for someone her age - good for her.

I'm so glad that you have solved some health problems by McDougalling. Isn't it wonderful to eat simple foods, and yet they are so powerful at healing us?

By the way, I love your tagline at the bottom. So true.

Greetings McDougalling brothers and sisters,

I hope that everyone is doing well today. It's fun to read everyone's "story", so thank you SF for giving your bio. Glad to hear about your weekend going well too. Thank the Lord for His gracious answer to our prayers!

I have 2 adult daughters living at home- sort of. One is gone for 3.5 months doing mission work, and the other is a midwife who is gone most of the time too. I really enjoy it when they're around.

I had a follow-up appt. regarding my kidney stone surgery Friday and it was fairly discouraging, but I'm trying not to look at it that way. The Lord knows the plans He has for me, and they're GOOD. Jer. 29:11

I know that the Lord knows what is the best diet for my body, and that He'll give me wisdom as I seek it. I pray that I can do what I know I should be doing, and figure out what I don't know.

Dear Father, please help me to know what I should be eating, and please help me to stick with that food only. Without you I am completely weak, but I can do all things through Your Son, Jesus Christ, who gives me strength. Also, please bless each one on this forum who is looking to You to provide them with that strength and wisdom as well. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Blessings to you all,
Jubilee

Hi Jubilee,
It's so good to hear from you. I'm sorry about the complexities of what you are facing with the high calcium levels. If I were you, I would email Dr. McDougall with all the info you gave us here, and see what he says. Also, I would recommend you post on Jeff's forum and get his input. And it's a blessing to see that you are trusting God in all this and seeking His help and wisdom. I'll be praying for you sweetie.

Take care,
luvoatmeal :)

I have been enjoying the other great posts--so many kind words here--but I will reply specifically to your post above, Jubilee.

Sorry about the discouraging news and lack of a good plan. Please ask the doctors here and Jeff Novick to address this!!! It is very important to get the best counsel you can before you start making any changes!!! Also, consider seeking a second opinion from a local MD if you are still bewildered after all of this. I may be wrong but I cannot imagine that dropping many wonderful foods from your diet is a step in the right direction....

I pray for your healing, peace and comfort. I pray for your wisdom in regard to decisions about your treatments and diet. :-D

Thank you Luv and Pinkrose. I did email Dr. M, and it's a good idea to ask Jeff Novick too. I'll do that on his forum. Good ideas! Thank you also for your prayers.

Wow, Dr. M. replied already!!

He said that oxalates in food are only made available when you eat fats, so if I understand that, I can eat all those foods but must be extra careful about fats.

I think for now, while I'm on the 6-month trial, I'll eat less of those high oxalate foods, but not eliminate them entirely (or I'd almost be fasting for 6 months!). What a relief!

Thank you Lord for answering my prayer about what to eat so quickly!

Blessings,
Jubilee

hey pinkrose

It's easy to forget, but hitting the hay with an empty stomach actually feels good. I often eat a late snack, though, (letting my tongue lead the way...grrr) which does throw off the digestion. During the night, while we sleep, the body is making repairs. if we have a gut full of digestion going on, a lot of energy is going toward processing food, instead of repairs.

It's a habit a lot of thin people have: not eating late, and eating carefully, stopping when full, etc.

Jubilee, that's wonderful news, and isn't Dr M wonderful? He is such a blessing, offering all of this for free. and throwing in that advice/info on top of it, too! yeah, he rocks, for sure!

I'm not sure if I introduced who I am, so I'll take an opportunity to do it here because I know it helps me when praying for others to have specifics.

I'm a 21 year old guy currently going to school in Waukesha, WI. I'm attending a Bible school here to train for tribal missions work - I would like to work in church-planting amongst tribal groups (possibly Papua New Guinea, Indonesia, Philippines, etc.). Oh, and I'm originally from San Jose, CA (just to give a shout to the Californians, luvoatmeal!)

In the past couple of days I have been feeling it impressed deeply on my heart to see my generation be the generation that reaches the world for Christ. I firmly believe that God desires to do amazing things through us if we would simply trust Him and rely on His unlimited power, grace, and love. I like Church history, and it's always encouraging to me to see how the early missionaries/missions movements were started by people who had a burning desire to see the world know Christ as their Savior. There is no reason why this generation can't be the one that does that - while I'm certainly not saying we could do it in our own power, I do believe we are able to accomplish incredible things through the empowerment of God. It all starts with one life pursuing God with reckless abandon - BE the spark, and God will use your flame to ignite a world for an impact felt in eternity.

Just some of the things I've been meditating on recently, thanks to everyone for the super encouraging posts! It's so nice to come on here and find fellow brothers and sisters giving credit to the One who truly deserves it all!

Thanks for your introduction, Matt! Wow! If you find the time to visit China, please come and see us! I think we would have much to share with each other. I am grateful for your zeal and your determination to serve Father. Please keep us posted on your studies etc.! :-D

Hi friends,

Jubilee - I'm so glad that Dr. M cleared things up for you - isn't he great. I'm amazed at how he responds to emails so quickly despite what must be a very busy schedule. He is incredible. Just watch out for those added fats like he said - they are lurking everywhere. Better yet, just eat things that don't have a box, can , or jar. :D

Matt - thanks for the intro. I'm impressed and encouraged by your zeal and sober-mindedness regarding the Lord and His work. I pray that you will do well in your studies, and that the Lord will guide you to where He wants you to serve. At least eating in any of the countries you mentioned will be very easy as a McDougaller - you'll fit right in. :-D

How is everyone else - texgal, KC (where are you?) love the lorax, Mrs. Doodlepunk. I hate making lists because I know I'll leave someone out that I didn't want to - hope everyone is OK.

I went on a beautiful, cool, peaceful 3.6 mile walk this morning and then my younger son and I spent about an hour doing yard work. The front yard looks real nice now. We had to clear out some ugly ground cover to let the red apple spread out more and fill in. It has been quite a project but it's pretty much done. Yeah. :D

Food wise I'm doing well and as long as I stay active I do great. I'm still down a few pounds but have about 8-10 more to go and then I'll be where I like to be. I just have to not do any mindless snacking.

Blessings to all,
luv

closing my second day of fasting...eating ONLY lunch. It's amazing how I have been taken care of in this. My fear was I'd cave and eat when or what I shouldn't, especially this evening as I had the whole afternoon free...but I was busy and happy the whole time and didn't even think about food!

May God use this in my life, to His glory and for His ends. Amen!

Beginning of Day Three. Today's lunch will be baked potatoes w/canned vegetarian baked beans, corn, tomatoes, broccoli. I will also take along an apple or something to eat, while at my client's house who has nothing but junk food all over the place.

This morning I'm feeling the blood sugar low, but I'll put a splash of lemonade in my ice water that I grab at the C-store on the way to work. It helped yesterday.

Last night, lying in bed on my back, my belly felt so flat!

We're called upon to fast, in order to seek God...right now I feel more distracted by the low blood sugar feeling and tiredness, than I would have felt by the preparing of a pot of oatmeal. Hm.

blessings to all. :) May God shine upon you and shine forth from you amen!
