I have three semi-raised plots. One of them was the original, it's only maybe four ft x 6 ft if that. A long time ago, my Uncle put in a bulb of this flowering plant.

When I started using it for vegetables I transplanted the bulbs to flower gardens. The only problem some would still come up. They are hard to find. I'm not sure what kind of plant it is.

Last fall I tilled the bed and got it ready for the winter. This raised bed is where I plant my garlic in the fall. I put some cover crop seed on the other side. I went out on Saturday and there was at least fifty little green things sticking up. I walked over and it's not the cover crop as the leaves are hard like how this other plant grows. There was not that many of these plants before and they were along the back not all over. I swear I think I chopped up some that maybe I hadn't found and spread the darn thing.

Any ideas for quick and easy killing and getting rid of them forever? All I can think of is taking my trowel and sitting out there plucking them out.

Are you sure that's not your garlic coming up?? This would be the right time for it to start emerging. You could dig one up and see if you recognize the garlic bulb, or take a good whiff.

Okay, if this is the unwanted flowering bulb though, I would pull them out by hand. It seems that will be the best way to discourage it.

No it's not garlic. I didn't plant that much and didn't go all over the garden. Not to mention the leaves of a garlic plants I stuck in in the fall are laying on the ground in a row, in the area I planted.

I remembered I bought this thing called cobra. Anyone seen them? I saw a demo and got suckered cause I have so many weeds. Anyway I think it would make it easy to get these bulbs out.

Oh, yes--I have one of these Cobra thingies and I like it a lot. This one, right?

It saves a lot of wear and tear on your wrist. That seems like just the right tool for what you're wanting to do (lever out a bulb).

Another tool you might want to know about! It's a long-handled weeder you can use standing up--I bought this one on a whim and WOW do I use it a lot! Occasionally for deep-rooted weeds but what I really use it for is digging out parsnips, carrots, garlic bulbs, leeks--it's a great harvest tool. $39. It's item "F" on this page, the one second from the right, with a 2-inch blade.

Yes, that was what I got. I liked the demo on it. I tried getting use to the wrist action of using it last year. I got it toward the end of the year.

I like the idea of a standing up weeder. I have a decent size garden and it's not easy weeding while stooping and worrying about stepping on a plant. I try to hoe often, even if it's just a small section a night. My garden got laid right ontop of our lawn, which has bermuda grass which is evil.
