Has anyone heard of a bill that the U.S. Senate is supposed to be voting on(bill HR 875), in the next week or so that would outlaw/ban organic farming? Someone on my facebook was talking about it.

no not at all. Heck last week they opened up the boarder to accept Canadian organic food to say 'organic', but with a blurb that it's not certified by something.

I think it would be impossible to ban organic farming. Maybe it's calling fresh stuff organic is what's changing.

My understanding is that the bill is not a ban on organics, but there will be many consequences to small organic farms if passed. The bill favors large companies such as Monsanto and will result in putting the smaller guys out of business.

I understood that people can have organic gardens but they must get permission first from the federal government, even to grow food for their own animals. This makes the Government in control.

The bill did pass. It seems much damage will come from it, especially to the farmers. I don't know if it will affect the home gardener but eventually it could.

Something needs to be done about Monsanto and our corrupt government. Anybody know what I or someone can do about this?? This has to stop.
