HI Jay I don't live in Texas but each season will grow different things better

cool weather crops include lettuces carrots radishes cabbage spinach and peas garlic and onions, broccoli and cauliflower
these would be spring and fall

In the summer you should be able to grow peppers beans tomatoes corn kale eggplant most varieties of squash cuccumbers and herbs.

If you have an area not in the full on Texas sun you may be able to grow romain and red leaf lettuce IT is well worth a try!

Jay, one of the best ways to find out what grows well in your local area is to contact your county extension service. It's usually a free service, your tax dollars at work. Also, find the nicest yard/garden in the neighborhood. Ask the owners for suggestions/advice. Then just play and have a good time.
