Someone just showed me a link to a grain called freekeh. http://www.greenwheatfreekeh.com.au/index.php

It highlights a small study of 17 individuals on the site. I haven't seen anything in this site so I am wondering how good it really is. It may be fantastic, but just doesn't have enough data to support the claims.

Well, studies have shown that you can get everything you need from consuming just plain white potatoes, so for the price of that stuff, it better taste really good :-P.

Thanks. :)

There are no super foods and hopefully, we will all stop falling for all the hype and marketing around them and not be fooled when the next latest greatest super food is promoted.

Dietary patterns trump individual foods.

Have you tasted Freekeh? Personally I'm not fond of it's very distinct flavor.

Thanks everyone for your responses. I was just asessing to see if it was a food that I could incorporate in my diet. I have not seen it anywhere in Canada around where I live so as it would be too much trouble to obtain, I will stick with the grains I already have in my diet.

I only cooked it once by mistake. I thought I was putting bulgar into something and used freekah instead. In my opinion, it really has little to recommend it over bulgar in terms of flavor, but I did not find its taste repulsive. In short, I don't think you're missing anything, but I wouldn't go out of my way to avoid it either.
