Hello Jeff,

Do we need to be worried about getting enough Vitamin K2? Apparently, it is only available in natto (having grown up in Japan, I can say I'm not too fond of natto and it isn't available here) and animal foods. Wikipedia says,"Osteoporosis and coronary heart disease are strongly associated with lower levels of K2 (menaquinone). Vitamin K2 deficiency is also related to severe aortic calcification and all-cause mortality," but I wanted to get your take on it. I don't take any supplements except b12 and check my diet on Cron-o-meter periodically, which doesn't break down vitamin K into K1 and K2.

Thanks in advance!

Hey Jeff,

I searched the archives and this K2 question has been asked a number of times, but has never been addressed by you or Dr. McDougall as far as I can see (please correct me if I'm wrong :) ). I did do a pubmed search and apparently, K1 is converted to K2 in rats, so maybe it is in humans as well? I'd love an answer to this question from someone as knowledgable as you.

Thanks so much!
