I eat all the fruits and vegetables she recommends. I also eat an occasional couple of ounces of salmon. I have never eaten and will probably never eat seaweed (some types have too much iodine and can be dangerous). However, I am looking for ways to get more iodine in my diet since I do not use the salt shaker. I can understand her elimination of gluten containing grains like wheat, rye and barley. And her elimination of dairy. However, She also seems to eliminate potatoes, corn, rice. She does not say why unless it is to make room for more colorful vegetables. Does she eat organ meats because of the B vitamins? I am not sure. I do not know what benefit she gets from grass fed beef.

You can't argue with success. I would like to see the results of her study which should be available somewhere now.

I do not know what Dr. McDougall would say about her diet except maybe something negative about the organ meats and beef. It is not clear whether she bans starches are is just telling you to fill the plate first with vegetables and fruits.

I am looking forward to the results of Dr. McDougall's study. The doctor in the video had a very personal stake in the experiment.

Probably not nearly as dangerous as the salmon you eat, what with the PCB and mercury content......

The latest I have been reading is that eating mammals is unhealthful because they contain something called NeuG5c. Evidently fish and poultry do not have this.

Animal protein contains IGF-1 in varying amounts. It is interesting what you find if you look it up. Some sites say this is not healthful and other sites sell it as supplements. One site will show you why it is dangerous and cancer promoting. Another will show you why it is good for you.

Wild caught Alaska Sockeye salmon is on the government list of safe to eat fish. Everybody knows we can always trust what the government says.

Didi - I just watched this video the other day! It is very interesting what she said, and what she has accomplished.

I think the organ meats are for b-vitamins, yes.

She also has more than one book, detailing her self-experimentation and her theories/concepts etc. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_c_ ... Caps%2C284

None of them are at my local library, unfortunately. That is usually how I vet new books for my collection.

So far as the research shows, small amounts of animal protein, very small, is not a problem in this regard but no one knows for sure. As mentioned though, even small amounts of mercury can be a big problem...

No matter what the research shows, it shows it for the broad population, statistically. That means when it gets down to any one particular person, for example me, going by statistics or "odds" means were not in Kansas any more, we are in Las Vegas! Russian Roulette anyone?

I personally have a number of risk factors in my personal and family history that would likely make the odds determined by the research, much too "generous" in my case.
