Hi Jeff
I am new to the McDougall Program.

A little History
I am a 55 year male
On August 29, 2011 I weighed 213. I was on Lipitor 20mg. I started drinking a green fruit/vegie smoothies for breakfast. Through internet travels arrive at Dr Furhmans diet. Quit eating meat, drinking coffee and all dairy products. 30 days I lost 20 pounds. I had my lipid panel done and the results were total chol 131 triglycerides 61 HDL 44 LDL 75. I quit taking lipitor.
Continued on present lifestyle change. Started working out, weight training two times per week and cardio 5 times per week at 30 minutes.
So far so good.

Last week went in and had lipid panel performed again.
total chol 194 triglycerides 89 HDL 46 LDL 130. I lost another 10 lbs. body fat 18% and bmi 26.

Needles to say I was shocked at the increase. I am not sure what happened. I eat very little chicken per month usally in Asian Dishes.

I consume alot of fruits and some veggies for my diet. I just started adding starches to my morning meal, rice or oatmeal or potatoes with green smoothie.

Any idea what happen and what direction I should take now?
Thanks....Mike

"What happened" is you came off the meds.

Just keep following the food plan and your cholesterol numbers will continue to improve. It does take a little time.

Yeah--how can you expect to instantly have the same cholesterol numbers OFF the meds as you did ON the meds?? Not possible, LOL! Keep on keepin' on and you'll see the numbers continue to drop. Get them checked again in 6 mos and report back! Just be sure to be compliant in the meantime!

Trust me on this: One day you'll wake up and realize that it no longer feels like "being strict." It just feels GOOD. :)
