What do you guys do for iodine in your diet if you are eliminating salt and do not get the iodine from the salt?

You really don't have to worry about iodine on a plant-based diet.

http://www.naturalhealthtechniques.com/ ... iodine.htm

Food Sources of Iodine:
    Asparagus
    Dulse
    Garlic
    Kelp
    Lima beans
    Mushrooms
    Seafood
    Sea salt and fortified salt
    Seaweed
    Sesame seeds
    Soybeans
    Spinach
    Summer squash
    Swiss chard
    Turnip greens

I had submitted a post earlier raising my concerns about my iodine levels. I don't think an iodine loading test is available here in Panama, but I still need to investigate that more thoroughly.
Here is an article that has been thought provoking for me: http://www.mbschachter.com/Iodine.htm
The questions it raises for me are: Is the RDA for iodine truly correct? Is my diet deficient? I eat no processed foods, no table salt, no fish. Does the fact that I have been eating foods that are goitrogenic (my beloved yuca!! as well as uncooked brassicas in salads and smoothies) add to the problem? I grow my own kale and collards, but I have no idea if the soil is deficient in iodine.
In researching the symptoms of iodine deficiency I have to wonder about the fact that my hair has been falling out at an alarming rate, I have mood swings and anxiety. I do not sleep well, my face and lower legs are often puffy. These symptoms fit hypothyroid problems but my labs always show my thyroid levels to be within normal.(TSH 2.0)
I am going to try some Iodoral and see what happens. I wish there was a physician here that could be supportive, but I am on my own on this one. I'll let you know how it goes.

I once saw a test that you could put iodine on the inside of your arm and if it disappears that means you need iodine. Not sure if this is quackery or not so please don't hold me to this. :D
