Jeff, I've been struggling to get my cholesterol down. I read some old threads here where you recommended "Cholest Off",
I have never "recommended" cholest-off, or any supplement in a public forum. However, I did discuss this one in two threads about 5 years ago, one saying it may be appropriate depending on someones situation and the other discussing the doses used and the results seen in the studies. Discussing the results seen of statins does not mean I recommend them either though they also may be appropriate depending on ones situation

JeffDo you still recommend Cholest Off,
My supplement recommendations stand, which means I make no generic supplement recommendations, especially in regard to anyone's situation in a public anonymous forum.
http://www.jeffnovick.com/RD/Q_%26_As/E ... ments.htmlThe first thing I recommend is working with someone to make sure ones diet is a therapeutic as possible.
Then, in conjunction with that health care professional, other areas can be explored.
However, there are some important issues to consider...
1) The results I discussed in the other thread, were when these supplements were taken by those with very high numbers and on the SAD diet. Those results do not apply to someone following a healthier diet or this WOE.
2) If someone is eating this way 100% and as therapeutically as possible, and their numbers are not ideal, do they benefit from lowering their numbers any more by taking a supplement or medication?
3) How ideal are the ideal numbers. You can read the threads on where the gold standard of 150 for cholesterol comes from and as you will see, about 1/4 of those had cholesterol and LDL levels that were fairly high, yet had no heart disease.
http://www.drmcdougall.com/forums/viewt ... 7&p=344300So, the real question is not the numbers (which are only markers of disease but not the disease), but does any disease exist and if so, what is the best way to go about resolving that.
Those are very important issues and truly can only be answered in working with a health care professional who understands you, your situation and the issues at hand.
