Two thumbs up for Southwest Burger...it is really good....and I have been on a crusade to find a good bean burger recipe. Used homemade BBQ sauce then topped it with onions sauteed with a small amount of the BBQ sauce...delish. It has more texture than most which we former 'bad burger' eaters are looking for. I will try adding some diced onions next time for even more texture. Thanks oodles.

I should be getting the DVD today (!!), but I wonder, how are the sauteed onions? No oil? Still tasty? Onions are super important to me in a burger...been searching for a good recipe for years.

Amarind: I actually sauteed them in a little veggie broth til translucent, let the juices dry up then added the bbq sauce and let it heat up some more.....I thought it was quite good but I like my onions a little on the raw side.

I ordered it too, after making the basic burger...kidney beans and rice. I eliminated the ketchup/tomato product because I can't have that...and let everyone else slather ketchup on top of the burger.

I still couldn't find the DVD on McDougall site so I bought it off of vegsource.

I'm really sold on the concept of watching a DVD over a cookbook, because it's so much easier to "get" the concepts watching someone else make them, rather than trying to figure out - mainly through words on paper - how to get from the ingredients to the final product.

I also like how the ingredient options are all laid out and explained.

One of the things I'd like to try and find are the septic packs of tomatoes. I wonder how they compare to cans? Probably easier to stack? Better or comparable shelf life?

Anyway, loving the Burgers and Fries DVD...can't wait to get to the fries portion. <3
