Good Morning,
Iv been a McDougall member and follower a few years ago but of course fell off of the starch solution diet.
First I am vegan and have been for many years, an unhealthy, 100 pounds overweight vegan because i overeat and have a major sweet tooth. Im not a vegan for health reasons obviously but for ethical reasons. in 1999 i had a heart attack at age 40, cardio doc said it was beacuse i smoked, i struggled with quitting but finally quit for good 5 years later. In the last year Iv had my gallbladder removed, found out my spine is that of a 75 year old and im 53 and then the stent from 99 blocked up again and now my LAD is 60% blocked, they wont fix it because it has to be 80% blocked. My cardio doc is overweight, he told me vegans always end up getting in trouble healthwise from the vegan diet. My last go round with Starch Based diet I followed it to the T, I lost weight but my Vit D was pretty much down to 0 and my B12 was very low too where i had to have shots for weeks. That however, will not deter me from hopefully staying on McDougall this time and losing the weight and clearing my arteries. I feel like a walking time bomb

Wow. It seems like you have a lot going on. But the plan can help you if you let it. Have you read prevent & reverse heart disease? If not this will be a must read for you. Pop a sublingual B12 & a vitamin D supplement & see how you feel. Keep posting for support & just take it one meal at a time. Be encouraged--you can do it!
