Hi, Millie34. I often eat oats twice/day. To my lunch oatmeal I just add about 1 1/2 cups cooked non-starcy veg - whatever's handy in a second bowl. It's satisfies and keeps me full and fueled till dinner time. Jusy a suggestion :)

Hello!

Thanks for tip ShevaunB - its good to know that I can eat oats 2x a day. Oats are so satiating aren't they? I ran out of oats a couple of days ago, and so I am trying some different breakfast dishes at the moment.

I was very tense and crabby today, it could be withdrawal from the Lexapro although my day did start badly. You see I put on a shirt this morning that I wore about 6 weeks ago and it was definitley tighter on than ever before. Aaarrrgh!

I am just going to keep on with MWL and the exercise, because I don't what else to do. So, today's eats:

B: Rice, sliced banana, diced apple
L: Rice, grated carrot, raw mushrooms
S: Raw tomatoes and cucumber chunks, lightly salted
D: Steamed broccoli and cauliflower with corn kernels, baked potatoes with tamari and sweet chilli sauce.

Workout:
15min warmup, 30mins in heart rate zone, 15min cool down.

I'm looking forward to seeing the Olympics opening ceremony tomorrow.

Bye for now :).

Hello!

I've been quite tense today, irritable and have a headache that comes and goes. I am sure that it is due to stopping the Lexapro. It will pass, I'm sure, I hope it doesn't take long before I feel better.

My eats:
B: Two apples and roasted sweet potatoes
L: Brown rice, grated carrot and chopped celery
D: Cos lettuce, spinach and raw mushrrom salad then vege curry and rice
I had brown basamati rice tonight for a change which I really enjoyed.

Workout:
15min warm up, 45mins in heart rate zone, 15min cooldown. I did (well, attempted) a few tricep dips last night. Not very tidy, I will have to work on those.

The Olympics opening ceremony was interesting, I liked the fireworks, and when the teams came out into the stadium.

Hi!

Well, a good day on terms of eating on plan, but mood-wise I've been a bit down. It's this horrible fat on my abdomen. I look like I'm 6 months pregnant, it's embarrassing. It's weird how the Lexapro causes weight gain mainly on the tummy and love handles.

Today's eats:
B: Oatmeal w/ 2 diced apples
L: Rice and grated carrot
D: Homemade pumpkin soup, 2 baked potatoes w/steamed broccoli

No workout today (rest day).

Hello!

On plan today, but I didn't make the time to work out :( . My partner bought a new exercise bike for me and is assembling it now, so I will be back on track tomorrow.
Still no change in my figure yet (pants and shirts still on the snug side). But I have definitely noticed a gain in energy, which I am really enjoying. I am putting more effort into my workouts too - I take this a sign that I am getting fitter. So, I am sticking to the plan. I am thinking about doing Mary's mini, but setting up my new pedometer is next on the list at the moment.

Todays eats:
B: Oatmeal and diced apple
L: Oatmeal and diced apple
S: Carrot sticks
D: Boiled spuds, broccoli and peas

Hello!

I'm still at it :-) .

Today's meals:
B: Oatmeal and diced apple
L: Cold baked potato, raw spinach
S: Cold baked potato, carrot sticks
D: Baked potato, broccoli, peas, raw mushrooms
D: Oats and grapes (handfull)

20 minute walk
Workout on exercise bike: 15min warm up, 45mins in HRZ, 15min cool down

I am going to start counting calories, because I want to make sure that I'm not eating too many high calorie dense foods. I used a BMR calculator today to workout my daily calorie needs; 2120. My calorie counter book says that in order to lose weight I shoul reduce my daily calories by 500. So, I want to keep my intake at @1620 (2120 - 500). I can meet the 500 calorie deficit by eating less and/or exercising.

Yes the MWL approach is "eat as much you want of the right kinds of foods", but I really want to make sure that I am doing everything possible to encourage my body to lose weight.

Bye for now,
M34

Hi Millie:

That's for stopping by my journal and for the encouragement - so much appreciated! I thought I'd drop by yours and see how you've been doing too :-D

I haven't taken Lexapro - but when I was first diagnosed with fibromyalgia the treatment regime was always anti-depressants. None did a thing for me but cause side effects. About 40 pounds of my weight I solely attribute to drugs I have been placed on.

Anyway, my turn for providing encouragement - you're doing all the right things and you are completely right even when you come of the drugs, it's going to take a bit for the weight loss to show up. Not to worry it will!

Personally, I wouldn't worry about the calorie count either. If you are concerned about how many you are consuming daily please check out the Chronometer - you can log your food and find out exactly the food and nutrients you get each day. I did this for a week when I thought I was over eating - come to find yes it's a lot of food but not much in calories. Oatmeal is higher than most so I do keep that to just one meal a day. You may want to as well when you see how your calories are stacking up.

I really commend you for your diligent efforts - good food and exercise will reward you soon! Also good you're getting sun. Dr. McD recommends sunlight to replenish our Vitamin D and it also helps me significantly with energy and mood too! You can read his specific recommendation in the "Starch Solution". Since I have been following that I have noticed a really big change.

I got to say I just chuckled when you said you have a big "wodge" of fat around your middle. Every time I look at my tummy I am going to think of that and laugh. Mine is diminishing before my eyes and yours will too! Usually I can see the difference from week to week - EVEN when the scale is not moving!

I am keeping an eye out and waiting for the day when your weight loss starts showing up. Just continue to be patient

Best wishes to you - Michelle
