"Went grocery shopping this morning and was amazed by how much I bought and how little I spent."

This WOE is quite inexpensive, isn't it? My main meal is rice and potatoes, with greens or a salad as a side. I haven't done the calculations, but a large potato and a couple cups of cooked rice is extremely inexpensive. The greens are the most expensive item. And dessert is usually some fruit. Bananas are really cheap, other more glamorous fruit such as mangos or papayas can be expensive though.

I also just bought a Yonanas machine and am loving it. I hesitated to put out $50 for it, but after making a couple of big bowls of banana and strawberry "ice cream" for just a few cents, I realized that it will actually save money in the end. I used to put away a couple of quarts of those soy ice cream a week before adopting this WOE :?

My next project is finding vegan soaps and make-up. I think the internet will have to supply those things because I can't imagine any local stores ordering them for the "crazy vegetarian" :-D But that's a goal for another day.

Welcome to journaling and good eating, Shevaun! Dr. Bronner's soap is vegan. I think they use beeswax only in the chapstick. You can order it from Amazon, and although it may seem expensive, you can dilute the liquid soap a lot to make it last longer.

Hi Shevaun!

I was just reading your journal, welcome!

I have to agree with a fellow poster's recommendation on Dr. Brommer's soap products. I use his bar and liquid soap in the bath and the liquid soap, also, for general cleaning around the house. I love this stuff. Mmmm...peppermint. I've found his stuff at Target, WalMart, health food stores - and you can get it on Amazon - where it might be cheaper.

I try to use Aveeda hair products, it's vegan and really expensive. So when I have extra cash, I'll pick up a bottle and try to stretch it.

I'm still searching for vegan cosmetics. Some of the stuff I try makes me breakout :( so I'm still using Cover Girl and Maybelline products - not much, just mascara and foundation.

Keep on keepin on!
