Yea! Coffee is a tough one--it took me over a year of really trying to finally give it up. I made a pot a few weeks ago, but reason caught up with me before the mug did and I let it cool down before pouring in on the magnolia tree (they like the acid).

Another benefit of giving up coffee is that I don't have to run to the bathroom as much, which was a really big problem since I have uterine prolapse (getting that fixed this summer).

I found a new grocery store that I love. It is new and closer to where I live than Whole Foods. It has everything I need as well as a food bar and a dining area. It's called Earth Fare:

Good luck with teh coffee, I never did drink it, but have watched my son get off of it, took him 4 days and said the headaches were horrid. But after 4 days he was over it.
For me the bigee is honey in my tea! still love it now and then...
good luck with the surgery too!

Good for you for giving up the coffee. Yesterday was my first day caffeen free and it was pretty hard core. Feeling much better today though. Glad you found a store you like that's closer then WF. Also good luck with your up coming surgery.

re: fulenn, carollynne and audretoburrito

Thanks for commenting in my journal. :)

I began drinking coffee in college many years ago so I could stay awake to stay up late to study for exams. Of course the next morning I would usually crash right after (and sometimes during) the exam! I got addicted and thought I could never do without it, but I gave it up entirely this past year since I realized I didn't need the caffeine, just a hot drink to keep me warm. So I first switched to hot tea and then found a coffee substitute I like with no caffiene. I don't miss the coffee at all. Thanks for wishing me good luck on my surgery. It is just routine, but wanted to get it out of the way before my son's wedding this coming fall.

I am down to 203 lbs. Hope to get down to 200 lbs. by my birthday in two weeks. Don't know if I will be there, but will be pretty close. That would be a weight loss total of 60 lbs. in 13 months :-D

Thanks for sharing your journal Gramma Jackie! You have done awesome and I'm so impressed with your results!! Also, I really needed to read about your approach, I tried McD doing all or nothing style and I crashed and burned. Now I am trying to make better choices all the time and excellent choices sometimes. That seems to click much more for me. I hope this makes sense. Love the picture of you and your new grand baby! AWESOME! Also, thanks for sharing the link to Earthfare. I don't have one by me in Michigan, but I travel a lot so its nice to know of other options besides whole foods.

Keep up the great work!!

Your doing awsome. Rather or not you get to 200lbs by your birthday or not you've accomplished a great deal and should be extremely proud of that. I've got my fingers crossed for ya... and my toes... and my eyes... also my hair is braided so I'll count that too. =D

You deserve them. You are doing so well.

And you are eating the McDOUGALL way. Once you got started, there was no stopping you.

GG, you look so different in your new profile pic, I wouldn't have recognized you! 60 lbs gone gone gone... That's 60 boxes of butter no longer weighing you down... Keep up the good work!
