This time last year, the much missed Mike Teehan set up a Holiday Challenge. This was a big help to me getting through the holidays. I even managed to lose a little weight.
After talking it over with Jim, we've decided that a new challenge for 2012 is in order. I've started it here in the Journal section as this seems like a nice non-confrontational spot. Jim will make this journal a 'sticky' and we can post to it throughout the next few months.
So what is the challenge about?
It's about whatever you want it to be. You can post here in this journal or in your own journal. You can feel free to confess your 'sins' and I won't criticize you for it. I only ask that everyone who joins this challenge give your full support to each other, and dole out the tough love ONLY when the person REQUESTS a kick-in-the-pants. That way we can keep the drama to a minimum.
Got a great 'McDougallized' recipe? Share it. Take pictures of your holiday meals. Show us what you look like all dolled up for a party. Have fun, participate and enjoy the benefits of good health instead of a holiday relapse.
So MY Holiday Challenge is:
I challenge myself not to gain weight and not to eat anything that will make me sick and/or damage my touchy immune system.
I challenge myself to keep on exercising and walking inspite of the cold weather and early darkness.
I challenge myself to remain cheerful and loving with my friends and family EVEN when they are eating rich fattening foods that I can't - and not to feel sorry for myself.
I challenge myself to remember that I am eating a wonderful, tasty, antioxidant-filled, starch-centered diet and I AM PROUD OF IT!
What are your challenges?
