I am so happy that you got this wonderful hike in with your Son. Thanks so much for sharing this experience with us! Being able to hike some again is I think the best achievement so far for me because of this WOE. I couldn't before because my fibro and arthritis pain would increase so badly during and after that I just couldn't dare to do any walking at all! I still have plenty of pain, but not the type that keeps me from sleeping nights, so I am again walking regularly for exercise, even a few trails here :) I used to hike daily until the fibro and backpacking was my favorite vacation. I haven't done these things now for well over a decade. My last hike was with my Aunt in Kauai and the pain was so bad I didn't think I'd ever get down the trail - she, 15 years older than me, just bounced happily down the trail an hour ahead of me - I could not move for two days afterward!

But now after the change in eating, the pain does not increase terribly with exercise for some reason. Though, my left knee is not too happy with the walks I am doing now, the swimming helps soothes that! I am just so happy that you found that you can do this now too. What a great accomplishment and what a fantastic trail to get to hike, wow!

a very good day again today! Got to the water class a half hr late, but also stayed longer on my own. then as I was driving home realized that my purse was home, so it was a good thing that I did not need to stop at the store to buy any greens today. I have been cooking up and eating my kale again... amazing kale. I looked it up on the NIH site that someone listed in the lounge and love it. I showed it to son too.
did Ok, and will continue to stay on WOE course ......
gave up on ticker and will weigh in in 2012 and see what it says... I have put on some wt, but clothes fit ok...

Hello to all on this WOE. I am going to write only a bit since the day is wasting and sun is out.
but yesterday went so well. Son loves to cook, and he spent hrs in kitchen making up vegan delights, like a juicer made bunch of fruit juices for a wonderful non-alcoholic sangria for today!! and some veggies with rice for meal.
Nothing can be finer that this for now... DH is fixing things in the house again, and declares he wants a new beginning too this yr. So let the good times begin.....
Better mobility, better health and hypertension begone with thee!!
I gave up on my ticker, the thing seldom works, but I know I have put on a few lbs, and will be working on that now!!

LoriJenny, thanks for stopping by, hope all is going well. Seems like I spend too much time sitting here and not moving at times.
How are you ?? :) So glad to hear from you too!

Jan 1st is almost over and guess what, the 3 of us just had a nice long hike (again) on the App. Trail. this time, we did drive up to a spot that was more accessible and not quite so far uphill. We hiked up to one of those rest spots that had a nice shelter place. Son knew the way there, and honestly it was a good hike for me, with my 2 walking sticks again.
Keeping on my feet and moving is my motto and get in all my greens and oatmeal with some fruit.

Back on the MWL plan as of now. and plenty of hikes and or walks with my dog. plus the gym. Never felt this good, since I have had the joint issues, but really it is more manageable with the exercise.
Simple meals are so much better for me, but son loves to really do it up so special for us.
yesterday was a good day food wise, but I forgot to take my HBP pill and the probiotic.... saw that this am, when I took them.
but I do feel too stuffed still and will need to be on the MWL plan now for 6 months or for life, to cure my HBP... that is my msg to self!
I have some pic to post here, does anyone know the website that makes them small enough? it was something like tiny pic I thought.....

not a bad day overall. For exercise I got to fitness center and did my water exercises and the water class too. Then walked the mall after seeing Sherlock Holmes movie.
had my usual Bf and a nice big salad for dinner. however I had a lot of popcorn at movie sans butter, but that salt must have been in there however..... tomorrow is another day... otherwise, I had a good day food wise, plenty of cut up celery and the bag of baby carrots, red peppers..... just the popcorn, I never, ever should have gotten that stuff, over priced that it is anyway!
there has been another in the family my mom's only brother died on Dec 22nd! His suffering is over now, and he is at peace with my mom and dad. I can think of them all playing cards,a dn eating some pirogis and the men playing golf again.

Snow on the ground this morning! It is only a dry layer of snow dust, and my poochie did not seem to mind it at all. And usually she will back away from the door if it is snow, or rainy outside.
today I am going to stick with my plan and not budge off of it, no matter what!
I soaked my Anasazi beans, and they are laying out to sprout now. I do not eat hardly any beans, due to gas and bloating. But today I am going to have a small amount of them with my brown rice and veggies.
Son made up a wonderful taco (impossible) shepard pie and ate half of it himself. I decided not to try it (since he used Bisquick) and he understood. He is a gifted chef here, and enjoys the craft so much! So since I did not want any of it, he added 2 jalapeno peppers to it... Now I am not tempted at all. I have told son that I will need to stick to very simple meals in order to lose more wt, and get to my goal wt of 165...... I was so close once and saw the 169 and 168, but it did not stay put. Now I resolve to get there again. and stay.
My uncle who just passed away has inspired me to get my house in order, in all matters. He has left his wife in good shape, I think, but still need to sort thru papers
Also going to eat more sweet potatoes this week.
have a good day....

HUGS condolences on family member dieing. Last year I had a 3 of those by this time and quite a few more between Jan and June. So far this year is better but we do have one in hospital.

I love water workouts actually been thinking about seeing what the price is at our closest one. I figure it is probably cheaper then a few other places I could go around here.

Remember we ARE GOING TO DO IT!!! HUGS!!!
