Rosey, my little doggie is the best!! We all love her here. But they can be a lot of work too. But so well worth it I think.
Just making up a Tuscan bean soup. A recipe I hand wrote, and it looks good.
the E2 challenge is off and running now!! Enjoying the companionship of doing the pot lucks again.
Already had some of my boiled reds with mustard this am. Yummy. got my oatmeal soaking and I am off to the water class today too.
Going to do this, and will not give it up.
I wish that Dh would join us, but one hurdle at a time. He has switched to the green lipton teas and sierra mist, but I wish it could be water with lemon, or the sparkling waters, like he used to do. But then again, I am happy for the small things in life too. NO more beer. :D :D :D Wonderful just wonderful in that alone.
have a good day to you all!

Got to the pool class today and did an extra hr of ex too. Hurray for me!
Made up a nice Tuscany white bean soup, and also a kale salad with a lemony new dressing. raw... usually hard on me, but it was good.

Hi Carollynne

How ya doin'? I miss conversing with you and your positive tude. Good to see your still at it. The Holidays got the best of me, but not too bad. I have been working hard at getting back on track, and it's paying off. I seem to be doing this plan smarter this time around and more aware of my triggers that lead me astray. I have only had sugar 2 X's in the last 2.5 weeks or so, once knowingly going at it and the second time it was in some food that I did not read the label but the good thing is that I did not have a lot. I will come around more often and say howdy doody.

Best
C

Hi yah, back at you!! so nice to hear from you, Christine. I am the same way with sugar, so we are truly sisters in that one. Ah well, we are but human here on earth after all. Doing the best thing we can. I am not tempted in the least by meat, or any animal products, but oh that sugary stuff. It just knows my name too well. then I suffer, all the icky stuff once again, gas, and having to kick the more more more urges too.
I went to the store and bought stuff for a great salad, and just had it. Feeling so good. love the greens!

OMG - sugar!!!! I am so proud of the fact that I haven't had a sugar binge since Christmas Day. Luckily, I was so sick for a week from eating all the SAD food, that ever since I avoid everything that could have been a culprit -- including sugar. Looks like your doing good over here, pool swimming and eating Tuscan soup - it's all good :)

lmggallagher, Hey that is so cool, I am proud of you too! Keep at this!!
I win the battle some days, and others a tiny pinch will set me off and running thru all kinds of hoops and fiery rings. You'd think I'd know the drill by heart and just avoid it.
it is all good, as you said, and I have to be good to myself, kind otomy gut as it were, and not do that anymore.....
today I will be super compliant too!

up way too early and have only had some Yeba mate tea- a Spanish, herbal tea, that son gets at the Amish store, bump and dent type, it only means an herbal drink in Spanish. nice taste, brand name of BADA never saw it anywhere but this BB's store, cheap enuff for me!
good day yesterday. Went in to the Bridal Shop for my mother of the groom dress, and finished paying for it. Next is the alterations for it. Hope to look even better for the wedding in this long dress. The lady told me last time, that I had no hips to worry about...    but I have put on a few lbs and will need to come off... I will have to go back to the MWL and stick with it like glue!!
have a good day to all out there!

ok, just got back from pot luck for the E2 challenge, and it was so nice to see all the great vegan food, and greens, etc. I was in heaven for sure! I brought some quinoa and veggies, like red, green and orange peppers, asparagus, brocc. and red onions, all cut up and softened up in fig infused vinegar. ( bought that at the Amish store cheap) It was ask the doctor, since she was there tonight. Mostly questions about the lab reports and the numbers.
I also had my check up with my cardiologist today, and had an EKG. and well what can I say, I still have the HBP and when will it ever be gone for good. today I actually left the house and had forgotten to take my pill!! @! so it was elevated for that. but I ended up showing the doc my old ID and he was amazed at how much my face has lost wt. FINALLY I might add. He, the doctor also went vegan, and has lost 31 lbs and is looking better.
I tell you I am really and truly committed to this WOE and will not give it up ever. Now matter what. going to these pot lucks makes me realize that I am not alone in this walk.
I know what my sneaky problem is, I like my sweets a bit too much, and need to really not have any more ever...
DH is doing good, and says he has not been feeling so good for a few days, and I told him it is the high fat foods, all this ice cream, daily, and that is making him sick!!

got up and did my stretching exercises, put on the ankle wts and some of the knee stuff, and then laundry, dishes, and headed for the water at fitness center. Good day for me!
Had a good day and now have some sweet potatoes slices in the oven. Someone had made them up like that for the pot luck, and I thought what a great idea!! thinly sliced and roasted I think id all they did!
here I was last evening recommending this website and the starch solution to a few of my team, since it has worked for me so well. It is all part and parcel of the same concept!! I can't help but but in a good word for Dr John McD!! My cardiologist even told me that he is just hungry all the time ( he went vegan to lose a lot of wt too) so I told him to eat more starches!! ( he replies that he needs to be careful of his sugars.... oh well... I recommended quinoa to him, now I am the patient after all... he told me about Better than peanut butter, which son has bought, and I don't use anyway!
Yes to the Starches!!

having a great day, thanks!! had my usual steel cut oats, with frozen blueberries, a banana and 3 little reds chucked up and dry heated with garlic powder... headed for the fitness center since my knee was feeling it although I have been in the water aerobics class 4 x this week....
came home and only stopped at Walmart to get some interfacing, the heaviest kind I am making table runners for son's wedding... the darn peeps there not going to be able to wait on me, so I left that and just picked up my usual veggies, and almond milk, and today I felt a big difference in myself. Somehow I did not feel the longing to go into the candy aisles and even felt a sense of something bigger than myself there as I passed all the processed food stuff and esp the packages up animal meat areas. Different this time, but ok. I have evolved some more and turned that corner and it feels great.
I got home and had a huge green salad of the different greens that come in the artisan baby head of lettuces pkg, but got it at Aldi's, cheap. also a toms, and cukes and some flax meal on top. got rid of nuts (again)
a good day!!~

Ahh,, yesterday was a great adventurous day for us McDougallers here in south central PA!! husband, son and I took a long drive to get to the closest Whole Foods Market. Thank you to the WWW and my GPS we had no problems at all. It was a 90 min trip, but we decided to break it up a bit and so we stopped in Gettysburg at a Polish Pottery Barn too. And again on the way back we drove thru a portion of the battlefields that we like to see. My favorite monument it the one of the TIPI and a Chief on the top. the Tammany Regiment form NY!! Son and I loved the Whole Foods market! it was such fun to finally see one. Now I will have to say that we did get a few items there that seemingly are never available at any other store we ever frequent. but oh my it was fun, I do think that a lot of the items I did get were at my own stores and for less, so I was careful in what I did buy. Then wow, I had to sample a few of the tasty morsels from the food buffet and after we checked out, there were these booths you could sit at and eat where all the plastic utensils were located. DH kept wondering about the forks, and spoons, etc. The ingredients were all posted and I was very picky!!! We had just loaded up on veggies and fruits from the Amish store, but I still managed to spend money, of course.... Some teas, 2 kinds of a rooibios tea, that was mentioned on of the talks on a ASW that I had purchased on a DVd, carrots, and a champange vinegar too. they did have the red lentils there in bulk, and oh, those breads there were divine, got the Russian black and a spouted wheat. Bread is one of my biggest stumbling blocks for the MWL program. Ah yes, bread, the staff of life, but no oils anyway!! Plain was just so good!
Feeling great today, and have noticed a few things lately: my hairline is filling in at the temple points where it was going backwards, and that is so oddly nice, but it must be the diet, and my nails are so much stronger now. And the energy level is way up and my knees are going a lot better too. thanks you! Dr McDougall!!

What a fun trip you had and how interesting your "hair is filling in". There are so many complete surprises that come up in this WOE

Thanks for stopping by Immgallagher!! Yes it's a grand life,, Tis!!

saw a old acquaintance today, out with DH shopping and when DH mentioned I was a vegan, he looked at me amazed. and kept saying, wow, I did not know you were a vegan.... wonder what that meant... perhaps he knows others, maybe his adult children who knows... but Dh mentioned to him that he had quit drinking about 6 wks ago. and I thought -----YES!! I sure hope so!! this is the first time he said that quote to anyone in my hearing. He will usually shriek at me, that he has not, in fact given up drinking, but will see what he numbers look like on next lab... the worry I think on, and I should not, of course, but leave it all alone, but then i see him replacing the alcohol sugars with more ice cream, and regular soda I about flip!! so mentioned it to him, and he has switched to lemon lime seltzer water and I plan on getting him some coconut ice cream. I think that will be better at least than the cow's milk stuff. ick!

hey I am up way early again, with Dh who leaves for work by 445 am, and so here I am, reading on the forums.
I really must get super serious and do this right. NO more of my tip toeing around the rules, I just feel so much better when I am strict. I have stuck to the plan for about a week, again, and it feels great. threw out the last of my earth balance, and will never buy it again. Sailed past Valentine Day with no candy at all. DH bought me some red roses, so pretty and a stuffed doggie with a puppy. I love that man!!
The E2 pot lucks are so nice, but there are quite a few dishes that I won't touch, since I can see the pasta, and not enough starches. Son made up the best dish yesterday, with his own jerk sauce, fermented for months, and it was great. I stuck to the roasted veggies, all marinaded in his jerk sauce, and rice, but he also had cubed tofu, that had been frozen.
I need to really limit my salt intake too. No more of my fav baby reds, boiled up, reheated and then a bit of sea salt! no more added salt... HBP issues.
plan for today is my steel cut oats, saved from Monday's and lunch, will be a huge greens salad, and some pinto bean casserole left over with brown rice! Dinner more of the same. I will lose some of my fat!!
