Today I start the MWL...I just received the book this weekend...I had started the transition but now after reading this great book ..I am jumping in..knowing it's the small things that will reap the best reward....I have been at this for 7 months...my best weight loss was 17 lbs..I took on a few during the holidays.....I have been struggling to get back down to my 17lb lost...this book is directing me in what I need to fine tune..what a wonderful gift this has been to my life....here I go...now giddy up go......

Hey Gin: You best get shoe shoppin' girl - now that you are on MWL. I'll bet you meet your 60th birthday goal fast and easy. And those new shoes won't be able to contain all that excess you won't be wearing. Yep, I'd go for some boots right now If I were you! Especially, with the miles you are doing!!! I'd need a horse to cover 4 miles, way to go :-D

so the weekend was sunny...we walked 4.5 miles on both days I even went in and did an extra 8 hour shift on Saturday to help out the unit...that after walking the 4.5 miles...did I mention I turned 60 last year? my energy is up for sure

Today I didn't eat breakfast as I had an early appt...Bad me!

But I did stop into a Teriyaki restaurant..and had steamed Vegies with a side of vegetable sushi...
then off to a friends house and we went for a 2mile walk

then for dinner we made some Sweet Potato Dal..it was great! it was from the Everyday Happy Herbivore cook book

http://happyherbivore.com/2011/11/cookb ... otato-dal/

You just have to make some!

I started a Meetup group name Forks over Knives...the link on their web page is gone but will leave our link here...no medical advice given..unless you can call a healthy life eating plan as discussed by Dr McDougall and everyone else on this WOE.....mainly a support group for those interested in getting their health back by what they choose to put on their forks...I do try to discuss one topic a month at the meeting to try to inform and educate....tomorrow we are talking Protein....I am a Critical Care Nurse and though I am new to this I am not new to what doesn't work....the 80% of the patients I care for with food borne illnesses....Cardiac, Stroke, Diabetes....I have the gene to heal...it came from my Dad...his name was Eugene......I do this for him....he is gone but he is in my heart every time I walk into a patients room and touch my patients hand to let them know I will care for them..I had a near death illness my self in 2004....because of what I went through with the "Health Establishment" I choose to take a more Holistic approach to my own care and those of my Patients...no one should have gone through what I did...

Hey Gin: wow, I checked out your group - it looks like everyone is having fun. Plus, I think it's fantastic your leading this group, what with your own successes and your background as a nurse.

Your phrase "food borne illnesses" is spot on and it must be so hard confronting that in your critical care job, knowing now these diseases can be reversed just by our food choices.

I think this is a positive outlet not only for the group but you because you're with like minded take charge people as opposed to the end game of the patients you're seeing. I am sure they get great care from you, but you can't go home with them and see that they get their diets under control!

So sweet that you dedicate your caring ways to your Dad. Simply touches my heart all that you're doing!

Best to you all - Michelle

P.S. So sorry to hear you had a really bad experience in 2004 - hope that is all long behind you now!

2004 doesn't exist anymore other then in my mind when certain things trigger it....I have learned to step back from my emotions and observe the way my body feels..this WOE is the best thing I can do...I am calmer but have more energy to do the things I love....

Today I led my Meetup group in a topic of Protein..I love that new people are coming and the word is spreading....I am at my lowest weight in years yet eat more than ever...no aches no pains....waiting to buy new clothes as I had some that I saved from quite a few years back and they are doing their job in this transition....I have signed up for the 3 day weekend in September..almost ready to launch into the Certificate for Plant-base nutrition....I love my new life!

throw out the Hopeful it works!

As Dr McDougall says...you know the fine print at the bottom of all those TV ads for weight loss that state these results are not guaranteed for all......well this is one guarantee you can count on....stick to the MWL and see that puddle of fat go that I have experienced.....
