Great for the bike rides and the food along. How many hrs are you on these trips! So wonderful for you both
too hot today.....
Dh is doing good so far. He had a few feast days, but says he wants to be plant based, today we both had the steel cut oats, and a huge greens salad from neighbors garden again. Yummy!

Well the 36 mile ride last night was 5 1/2 hours because there was a lot of hills. We do an almost 20 mile loop in 3 hours. we take 15 to 30 min total breaks along the way which is included in that time.

I certainly give the McDougall program credit for my weight loss, but I give you the credit for inspiring me to stick to it. I mean that, sincerely. You are always so cheerful and upbeat. You took me under your wing when I really needed it and was so discouraged I was about to throw in the towel. Thanks so much! :-D

You are doing so well!! It's great to hear how well your bike riding is going and how supportive your hubby is--mine is, too, and it really makes a difference.

yeah it's amazing how supportive he is I love it. I have 2 ex husbands that neither one wanted me skinny so they did everything they could to keep me fat. So it's very nice having someone that wants me healthy.

Hi Rosey, I am a long time lurker and reader of journals. Just wanted to say how amazing your progress is. I'm particularly impressed with your biking prowess! I have half my body weight to lose too and was wondering if you would suggest any particular bike for someone like me who is still morbidly obese and hasn't ridden since college (abt 15 years ago)? I loved biking back then but gave it up as my weight and pain level rose.

I can relate to having a supportive husband/partner too. It is SO helpful. Even though my hubby doesn't eat a totally plant-based diet, he is mostly vegan and respects my journey on this WOE. I can't imagine changing your diet radically and having a naysaying spouse. Healthy support is so important when you are trying to change.

I started out with a recumbent trike but they are pretty spendy but when I started out there was no way I could of rode a two wheeled bike. As soon as I could though we got me a Electra Townie 21 speed it is great though I did change it's normal wide seat for a wide seat that has gel so a little softer. I'm to the point now that we are actually talking about switching me to a hybrid or a street bike.

Yeah I know the naysayer spouses so now that I have one that is supportive I appreciate it even more then I would have if I had started with that.

I will get there. I'd probably be losing it faster if i cut back on my fruits. I love fruit during this time of year all the berries and watermelon and such.

I forgot to say congrats on getting to a lower obesity class. And I too lookforward to reading your "Star" story. Thanks for the advice abt bikes. I think I will start saving now and not buy till next spring. I have some pain issues I hope McDougalling will clear up eventually. Maybe by next April I will be down enough in weight to try out recumbents and regular bikes. :-D MWL seems to work wonders for many people here, so I'm hopeful.
