I have found that I feel my best when I eat whole foods. So this is my journey to continue doing just that. This is actually day 26 :D of eating that way.

Breakfast:

Oats, Blueberries, Acai Berry Tea (I do allow this, all ingredients are easily read)

Lunch:

1 baked Sweet Potato
Large handful of field greens
Steamed Dandelion greens and Kale
Diced grape tomatoes
Oasis Hummus (another allowance, as all ingredients are whole, and easily read)

Dinner:

Repeat of lunch only Japanese Baked Potato

Acai Berry Zinger Tea
Few bites of butternut squash w/parsnip, onion.

2 dried plums

I like the "nothing labeled" concept, however, I add in one exception, and that is a label that lists only one ingredient which happens to be a healthy whole food. If the label reads "Kidney Beans", or "Oats" or "Spelt" or any other single wholesome ingredient then it's fine in my book!

Yes Norm, I should have clarified that a bit. If the label is clearly written with whole understandable ingredients, I do allow it. Like low/no salt beans. Or my beloved Oasis hummus.

My problem was that I had been allowing too many 'legal' but somewhat processed foods. Those are a horrible weakness for me...they bring out the munch-monster.

I edited my signature and my subject line. Wouldn't want to be misleading!

Love that challenge! I will be following your journey there and am considering trying it out myself. It is indeed too easy to slip into the "legal yet somewhat junk food" section.

Thanks for stopping by JT and Latgerda!

Yes, I can't indulge in most acceptable processed things...like breads or rice cakes..crackers. I tend to overeat and then rationalize it away. If only rationalizing burned calories!

Day 28 :D

Shower went well yesterday. Lots of wonderful gifts for soon-to-be grand baby girlie. I brought my own food.

Breakfast: Steel Cut oats/blueberries. Acai Tea

Planned Lunch: Butternut squash with field greens, hummus and cherry tomatoes. Brussels sprouts.

Planned Dinner: Same, except sweet potato as starch.

Snacks: Apple, Fig, mango....maybe watermelon.

BeanBuddy2 ... I too am finding out whole foods work best for me.

Only problem is baked chips aren't whole foods. :-D

Great Job !!! eating the way you are and sticking with it.

Every meal and every day is another step closer to making this way of eating your new way of life.

Thanks for keeping a journal and letting us follow your journey.

All the best,
John "JT of PA"

Oooh, your food sounds delicious! I get excited about whole plant foods, too. And they look so attractive to me that way! :-D

Thanks for stopping by JT and Sweetpea!

I love the apple chips, but am on the fence about them. Y'know...the whole dried fruit issue, easy to love them toooo much. Perhaps they will be in the occasional treat basket. If I'm craving a sweet, I figure a few apple pieces are better than a lot of other things.

Did good so far today with staying on my feet! I'm logging about 4000 steps..granted, no marathon, but considering I've yet to take my nice long walk, I think it's okay.

Didn't get that long walk in. Had to do some research for a friend. So my total steps are only about half of what my goal is.

Steps: 5441

Gotta keep moving!
