Congratulations on hitting the 5 week mark, sksamboots! By now you should be noticing some major changes in your body both internally and externally. Keep it up!

One suggestion, though: You might want to consider only doing 6 days of exercise weekly. One day of rest is good for letting the body recharge, and will actually have the effect of speeding your metabolism just a bit when you resume your exercise the next week (or so I've come to understand). If you think you can handle 7 days then go for it, but you don't want to burn yourself out.

Ege: I actually read that a person only needs to take a day off exercise, if the exercise is intense. And my exercise is far away from intense. It's probably considered light/ or moderate exercise. So when I get to intense, I will take a day off....Thanks

I'm doing good. Woke up and got my hour of exercise in on my elliptical. Having trouble focusing at work, and I have a lot to do. I had to check on everyone here first. Maybe if Dr. Mcdougall would just hire me to be his forum encouraging assistant--then I could just do this all day. I would love to do it all day. I've been 100% on plan...I'm happy, relaxed, calm, and feeling rather insightful. :D :D :D

I vote for that. I love seeing your name with an encouraging note in my journal.

sksamboots, I'd be happy to write you a letter of recommendation for the job of full-time encourager. Keep up the great work!

I'm ok....A little sad today. Found out my hubby's grandmother got put in hospice today. Not sure how long she has. I haven't seen her in 2 years. We found out she was not doing so good, about 1 month ago--so I shipped my hubby out there fast to visit with her. We live in California and his famly lives in Lousiana. She was still doing good and like her old self. I guess things go down hill fast. I lost my grandmother last year and now it looks like his will go this year. Death, I just don't like it. Just doesn't set well with me. Sure, you hope the person goes on to a better way of life, with no suffering, but it's just still hard for the people that are left. Life was just so much greater with my grandmother around. And now his grandmother.....Eh.....I'm on plan..I don't have much of an appetite :?

sksamboots, my thoughts are with you and hubby. I lost my grandmother in 2000 and I still miss her all the time. It sucks. Sending hugs your way.

Thanks for the support. I'm doing a lot better today. Hubby and I had a long talk and decided it will be 'ok'. Since he saw her a couple of weeks ago. Life happens, I guess...Don't really know how else to say it...

So I just wanted to post something in my journal. Lunch was really hard and akward for me today. My work, paid for us to have lunch. So they brought in food. This is the first time this happened. Well, I wasn't going to get anything, and I was feeling akward...o'well, I still wasn't going to get anything no matter how I felt. Anyways, a co-worker approached me--she knows I'm trying to eat healthier and that's all she knows..Well, she said I better get something to eat or everyone is going to start questioning about why I'm not eating. I told her I didn't care, they could ask questions but I'm not just going to put food on my plate to make people feel happy or more comfortable--or more whatever. Anyways, I decided to get some fruits, watermelon and grapes (they at least had those) and I put them on my plate. That's all I decided to eat. Then another co-worker, said "man you must be having a lifestyle change" what are you doing? I saw other people looking/listening, so I said I'll tell you later....So she came by later and I just told her I'm eating mainly fruit/vegetable/beans/potatoes etc. She was really supportive and told me to stand up for myself etc., and that people are just stupid--I agreed with her. Uh.. I'm so glad that's over with now...

I've eaten lunch with them before, but we usually all bring our own lunches. It has never been catered..So this was such a different situation. I really felt like I was in the spot-light and I didn't like it...It's just not my personality, I don't like being in the spot-light or the center of attention....So I made it, it's over with..And I won't have to face it again until next a month..Since we are all eating together once a month ...Uh...

I do feel like I accomplished a lot though..Man I used to would just cave in and just eat what they were eating. Not anymore. And also, they had roasted chicken and I noticed that it smelt really nasty to me. That's new to me...I used to always love the smell of roasted chicken..Very interesting..

Alright, I'm on plan and on track and feeling great. One minute at a time :D

Hey, good job. You're right on with how you handled that work situation.

Yeah, I think you handled that really well. Also, in time they'll get to know you and your food preferences so it won't feel like such a big deal. Good for you for sticking with the healthy food!

Well done Sksamboots! These kinds of challenges at work are difficult and you navigated it successfully. I’m so happy for you. :)

Thanks for all the support!

I'm doing good today. I'm glad it's Friday and I'm ready for the weekend. I don't have any plans--but I just look forward to not working this weekend. I had a nice fruit/veggie smoothie for breakfast. And I have a bean/corn salad for lunch. Not sure what I will do for dinner, probably left over salad. I'm going to pick up an organic watermelon for a snack later on, I'm excited about that! I woke up and exercised for 30 minutes this morning on my elliptical. My clothes feel loser today and are fitting better. I was just looking in my closet and can't wait until I start fitting into some smaller sizes. I don't even have to go shopping, I just have to look in my closet. I'm happy with my progress and my success thus far. Okay for now :)
