Jim, I am in a good place today. Ate well.

Morn: mashed caulif and potatoes. Cup of coffee- half caff

Afternoon: Spinach, arugula and sunfl sprouts eaten raw like chips :), br rice and broccoli, tangerine

Evening: mashed caulif and pot, corn chowder, broccoli and brown rice w/ff gravy.

Exercise- very little. 10 flights or so of stairs.

Throat is hurting and feel a bit run down so I have been on the couch drinking herbal tea and watching bad tv. Plan to go to bed with a new book. Life is good.

Decent day. Tired so I won't say much.

Breakfast: oats and spinach

Afternoon: tangerine, br rice and broccoli

Evening: raw veggies, spelt pretzels and ff hummus, vegan lowfat bento box w/ br rice, dumplings, and seitan. Not really legal because of the white flour dumplings and a little oil. I can do better.

Exercise: aerobics and a little weights- 45 min.

Hi Anna,
Hope you're feeling better. I so enjoy your honesty and "stick to it" attitude. One question I have for you is, how does your son eat? If he doesn't eat McDougall style, do you have foods in the house that you have to avoid? Just wondering because I would love to have only McDougall foods at my house but my DH and DD eat all kinds of stuff I shouldn't have.

You would love the fall colors here this year which have been exceptionally beautiful and long lasting. I wonder if you get much of the fall colors there?

Take care and have a good day :)

Birdy, hi! Ahhhh Seattle. I know it is beautiful in the fall. We get a little color but definitely not like elsewhere. I am enjoying the relief from the heat. In to running more. I ran tonight and it seemed a good bit easier than my last run and I so enjoyed. What's more is that I've lost my self consciousness about running where people can see me. Red in the face, panting, hair frizzed and crazy, loose skin flappin, and I pass people and just give them a smile. And they smile back. How could they not? Free entertainment.

Ate healthy today. Yah.

Morning: pear (it was divine), br rice and broc

Afternoon: br rice and broc, white bean, butternut squash, and greens soup

Even: Spin salad, mashed caulif and potato, cooked spinach.

Exercise: 40 min of run/walk. I ran a mile then walked then ran/walked some more for a total of about 1 3/4 mi run and I don't know how much walking. I just hope nothing gets in the way again of me getting to a 10k. No surgery, no getting sick, no more bulging disk in the neck. I just want to steadily improve with no interference.

Tired. Intense day. I did get a workout in at the gym though and am pleased. I just want to go to bed with my book. I'm doing well. I want to continue.

Morn: mashed potatoes and cauliflower, coffee- half caf, and then another all decaf w/ a little almond milk and sugar

Afternoon: Brown rice veg sushi roll, a little white bean and veg soup, cup of corn chowder

Evening: coleslaw w/ mango salsa and a little soy yogurt, handful of spelt pretzels and ff hummus, br rice and green beans in tom sauce.

Sounds like a lot of food but it really wasn't. I will probably eat more. Last night I woke up about 3am hungry and unable to go back to sleep and don't want a repeat.

Exercise: weights, elliptical for about an hour.

Another intense day. Tired, but sitting on the coach and relaxing w/ "calming" tea, belly pleasantly satisfied. I'm doing well. The tape in my head is that this is for good. Will I ever mess up again? My history says yah, that's a no brainer. But, I hope I will stay the course because it's getting easier.

Morning: Oats and spinach, nut yeast and braggs, brown rice veg sushi

Afternoon: salad w/ salsa and ff sundried tom dressing. Yum. Big potato and white bean soup on top.

Evening: br rice w/ spinach, braggs, sunfl sprouts, and nut yeast; mashed cauli and potato w/ red pepper hummus. Love that meal.

Exercise: just did stairs- about 26 flights. Not as much as I normally do but I haven't done stairs in a while and I did not want the sore calves from going down.

RAS, Hi! Thanks.

Will I ever mess up again? Yah, Sunday eve after getting through the weekend and all the minefields traveling, being with family, etc. Not going to give it any real energy though, I'm just going to keep going.

I need to work more on dealing with stress. This seems to be a BIG trigger for me. I've known this for a while and yet here I am.

I've been reading my journal and one thing that is helpful is re-reading all the supportive comments again. Jim told me in 2009 to give this a real try- for a couple of months of total adherence. I've yet to do that. Now I won't say I've not done this at all because I have done enough that my health is much better- weight loss still almost 100 lbs (hovering here for fricken ever), BP good, cardio and strength better, etc. But not total adherence and a lot of unnecessary struggling. I have a hard head.

Plan for today is to make some refried bean and veggie soup. Got the idea off my own journal. Forgot I like that. Nice.

Hey, can you come over and drag me out for a run? It will make us both feel better.

Hey Nomikins, I'd love to. One day I might just shock the hell out of you. You'll open the door and have a coonass in odd looking running clothes on your doorstep. You won't run me off though because I'll have some legal food in my hand as an identifier and an offering.

Have a nasty cold so I don't plan to exercise which is a bummer because I really want to. Seems like stuff keeps getting in the way.

Took the day off and plan to relax, get some stuff done, and cook. Did fine yesterday. Definitely not a weight loss day but I ate on plan. Just a lot of it...apple, oatmeal, a little hummus, baked chips and bean dip, ff choc pudding (pushin it I know), br rice veg sushi, ff lentil soup, raw veggies.

Will make the refried bean and veggie soup today I did not get to yesterday. Thinking about making hummus too. Estelle has a recipe somewhere here that I want to try.

I'm looking forward to eating well today and feeling better.

I know a coonass when I see one, so bring it! :D

I have a cold/cough thing going on, too. Unfortunately, I have to go in to the office today - it's my midyear review. Just gonna doll up and look cute for my boss.

Anna! Lookin good. I love LOVE LOVE what you said "will I mess up again? Yah"

It's SO TRUE. But, lemme tell you, THAT is the first step in coming to a place of acceptance. I had to get there with some other addictive behaviors, and once I stated that about myself "I guarantee, 100%, without a doubt, I MAY DO IT AGAIN"...then I could start thinking straight headed about my destructive behaviors and THEN i could start doing things to REALLY change. It's called telling yourself the truth, and

THE TRUTH DOES SET YOU FREE. Period.

keep on going! I think you are doing terrific! Image rah! rah! sis-boom-bah!

goooooooo ANNA!

Nomikins, you ARE cute!

Buns, Hey! good to see you. I don't think I deserve all that cheering but I like it just the same.

Ate alot of grub today...ww pasta and marinara, 2 Mcdougall soup cups-ramen, frozen fruit bar, more baked chips and bean dip, br rice and broc, and refried bean and veg soup.

Honestly I was doing good not to eat SAD.

So I have br rice and broc and refried bean soup ready for the next couple of days. Oats for breakfast.

No exercise. Getting over the cold. Coughing, sniffling but not feeling as bad as I normally do with colds.

I'm going to keep journaling. It helps.

Another day without SAD is a happy day!

Morning: br rice and broccoli and then more br rice and veggies, tangerine

Afternoon: more br rice and veggies and my homemade black bean and veggie soup

Evening: ww pretzels, ff hummus, br rice and steamed veggies and veggie soup from a chinese restaurant.

Still coughing so no exercise. I couldn't do it if I tried. I'd cough and cough and wet myself I'm sure.

Okay, I can't stop laughing at the picture of exercising and wetting yourself!

You did so good eating tons of stuff that wasn't SAD stuff. And you are so amazing at keeping it real. Thanks for sharing. Keep up the great work.

Thanks for visiting my journal. I like seeing your name there. :)
