Transformer,
Im not sure your stance on this subject since the artical is vaughe.
But If anyone has intrest in learning more about fracking here is a place to start.

Living inTexas, (though not from the area) this has been a big topic around here. Of course the classic mindset of landholding Texans is if it's mine I should be able to use it how ever I see fit and the EPA has no right to my land. But in all areas of the country where Fracking is done there has been documention on water polution due to Benzine among others. and small earthquakes surrounding fracking areas as well as air polution. Both old and new concrete shafts with great potential of leaking into ground water. See
http://earthjustice.org/features/campai ... d-fracking.
Click on the crossbone for specifics of incedence. (The top one near Dallas - Hill County shows just how devistating it can be) and many more

Talks about why we don't hear more conclusive evidence.
The Texas Railroad Commition is responsible for all drilling information in this state and once I even found a map of wells in my area on there site.
This is definately a large FOOT PRINT.

Hmmm Ege, seem like when the temperature is colder than normal it is just weather and when it is hotter than normal it is global warming.

It appears that you have at least two brain cells as your posts have consistently reflected a binary response. If person agrees with you they are a genius, if they disagree with you they are a moron.

Life is a bit more complex than that Ege. The scientific process supports open discussion.

Other than my post I don't see any open discussion here. I still don't know what the opinions are ON THE TOPIC of any of those who have posted. When science is hided from us in the mass media and we have to go searching for the truths I worry that we will put our nation and our world at risk when data shows systems far from safe. The CO2 my go down but what risks go up????? Though I have trouble trusting most administrations not nowing all their underlying agendas, I would put more vaule in the EPA than those of a Financial Propiganda Publication Like Investors.Com.
Is our intrest in making money or a safe environment?
What do you really think about this subject?

LadyDi, have you noticed that when ever or where ever an energy source is found, the left creates a big bad boogie man?

We have seen it with
- sulfer for coal
- CO2 for all fossil fuels
- Nuclear waste for nuclear power
- poisoned ground water for fracking
- birds harmed or killed by windmills
- same for solar power
- wetlands and wildlife issues with hydro-electic

We have to do what we can to minimize harm to the environment. It is important to keep air and water clean. Too often concerns are exaggerated or completely and falsely manufactured.

How can you tell the difference between legitimate concerns and bogus boogie men? Look at the proposed solution.

If the solution is to minimize or eliminate the harm by adopting given practices or technologies, you are likely to have an reasonable approach.

If the solution is to eliminate an energy source completely instead of utilizing best practices you have people with a political agenda.

Developer,
I guess you haven't taken a good look at all the information out there for Fracking. They have not come close to finding a "minimal harm" manner of fracking. If you have research that states that fracking is safe I would like to see it.
Give me a link
Give me a name of a study that proves it or even shows something conclusive.

LadyDi,

I live in a state where fracking is widely practiced. The economy has booming, land owners are happy, neighbors and the environment remain unharmed and no one has suffered any ill effects but all of us have benefited.

If your information comes from advocacy sites and not from scientist you will have a distorted view.

Go around those with an axe to grind and talk to those people who live with fracking. It is a wonderful thing.

Developer,
I live in Texas as stated in my post. I have studied this from every direction I can find and the science does not show saftey!!!!!
Whereever you are..... when your children start dying you won't give a crap how good your economy is. And when they are sick and the Doctors don't know why maybe you'll think about this post and do some research on your own rather than looking in your walet!

So the editorializing of a right-wing rag like IBD is, what, fair and balanced? Please. Those guys make the Wall Street Journal editorial staff look like Mother Jones. However, when the New York Times reports (as opposed to merely opines) something along the same lines, it gets my attention. I am ignorant of the environmental consequences of fracking. When I learn more, from a variety of sources, I'll draw my conclusions. And I think advocacy sights are useful--if you take the time to visit sites advocating for both sides.
