But what is a bbcode,
BBC code is similar to HTML code - it's a type of simple programming.

parse Urls,
You pop the url onto the page, highlight it, click the URL button above, and it automatically makes it into a clickable link. It's important to use that button if your link is so long it takes up 2 lines of text, otherwise the board's software makes a link out of only what's written on the first line and makes a broken link.

attach a signature,
For that you use the User Control Panel link above. Then click on the Profiles link. When that page opens you'll see a link to edit signature:
http://drmcdougall.com//forums/ucp.php?i=profile&mode=signatureNow you can add either just text or, if you have a ticker, copy and paste the HTML embed code for the ticker in the text editor. You can hit the Preview link to see what it looks like, and be sure to Submit to finalize your changes.

How do you make the blue box when copying someone elses text?
When replying to another's message, hit the Quote button in the message (Bottom right) and you'll see the entire message is now surrounded by first the quote code - (bracket)quote(close bracket) and at the end the close code - (bracket)/quote(end bracket). If I put the actual brackets [] in that, my words would have been a quote, so I wrote "(bracket)" instead. Anyway, now you can use the BBC code to quote. If you want to quote bits and pieces and not the whole previous message, you can add your own brackets and end brackets around the lines you want to quote. I know on mailing lists and other forums we're encouraged to use the arrows > to indicate quoted text. I sometimes do that here when I'm too lazy to remember to write out all the coding. Yeah, I'm lazy. LOL
