I did it! I ordered my Needak rebounder. I just couldn't help myself. It was supposed to arrive last week, and wouldn't you know it, they're low on parts at the factory and my shipment is delayed. I actually ordered it from Amazon (Alive and Aware is the seller), so I got it cheaper than the Needak website offers it. However, all the orders go back to Needak for fulfillment, and that's where the bottleneck is.
Lord, give me patience; I need it RIGHT NOW!

It was delivered while I was out of town last week. I didn't even take it out of the box this weekend because I needed to MAJORLY vacuum the den. (I have a dog who is blowing her coat right now and my carpet had doggy hair on it.) I didn't want to get hair on my new rebounder, so I vacuumed the carpet late Sunday night, and I'll get it out of the box next weekend. (I'm home only on weekends.) Am I a little crazy, or what? The box was a lot heavier than I thought it would be. It must be built like a tank! In the meantime, I walked on the treadmill every day this weekend. But NEXT WEEKEND, it's BOUNCE TIME!

Thanks for asking.

Hey, everybody, I started my rebounding yesterday, and, boy, is it fun! I'm being careful, as the instructions advise, not to overdo it. I'm just doing the "health bounce" right now, with my feet not leaving the mat. I'm not even using the stabilizer bar because I don't need it. I even got my husband on it, but he started to hurt in his calves within about a minute. I bounced a lot, several times yesterday, and didn't feel a thing. (Guess walking on the treadmill 3-4 times a week has prepared me for this.)
I have it set up in the den, so as I thought about it, I would just jump on it for a few minutes instead of sitting on the couch while watching TV.
Anyway, I just wanted to express my gratitude to those who raved about their rebounders. I think I'm going to love this new exercise. I wonder if there's any scientific evidence for the claims that this cleans out your lymphatic system and removes dead matter from between the joints. No matter; I'm going to do this anyway because I feel so good afterwards. I already feel stronger in the legs.
I love this message board! :D

Yeah Nettie!!! May I ask, when you walk on your treadmill, what your speed is? I am just curious.

I start out at about 1.8 mph, then slowly go through the intervals until I am at 2.7 mph, where I stay for a while. Then I go through a cool down phase, ending at 2.0 mph. Not very fast, I know, but I'm nearly 60 and overweight, so I'm taking it slow. I stay on it for 30 minutes total. I'm thinking about upping it to a longer time, but for now I know I'm doing myself a world of good at 30 minutes. I did the rebounder several times today, too. My legs, while not exactly sore, are feeling it. Great stuff!

No, that's great. I was just wondering. When I rebound, it is equivalent to walking for me. Even when I rebound vigorously, it is like a moderate walk. It is nice that the impact isn't great too.

I haven't read this entire thread, but did want to mention the Urban Rebounder. It may have a harder bounce than the Needak. I don't know with certainty. But the UR is very well made and includes a bar. It is also less expensive than the Needak. The UR usually includes dvds, but honestly a good number number of people (especially older folks) will find them too challenging, fast, and difficult.

For those with injuries or age issues, feel blessed. You have hope for improvement. I have end stage renal disease and have no ability to exercise whatsoever (am kept anemic, current 30 percent). I can go for 30 seconds, then die. So if you have no ill health in major organs, please please give yourself a chance. Even if painful due to arthritis. Don't lose the function that remains because you let a little pain, fatigue, or boredom get in the way. Use your rebounder or the street under your feet.

end of lecture

Carol, did you say you RUN 2 miles fast to win!!?????

Yes, by golly, I think you can do far more than 5 min. on the rebounder. Gosh I'd say 1/2 hour. Maybe you are there already!!

I enjoyed your enthusiasm in your posts!!!!

Hey, heck, it seems silly, but I'm gonna grab my 3 year old unused rebounder and set a goal for 2 minutes. It shows I still have hope, yea!!!!!!

And, if one minute is all I can do, well, then I am going to do it!!!!

DO IT BECAUSE YOU CAN!!!!!!!
:D :D

Maggie,

Me....say I run 2 miles fast??? I don't think so. If I did say that, I was surely joking. Actually, I haven't been rebounding daily because of my schedule. I need to get back into it. But every time I do, my back bothers me quite a lot so I get frustrated about that. I also have to wear my compression sleeve on my arm with lymphadema, cause it's true that the lymphatic fluid starts moving to release toxins. If I don't wear my sleeve, my arm balloons up (and gets painful). So I can't just hop on...I have to "prep".

Don't get me wrong, I do love rebounding and wish I could go longer. I'm going to promise to do it tonight when I get home. Can't blame it on being too hot (95) because I have the A/C on and it's very comfortable in the house.

You succeeded in getting me to start back up. So thanks for that! :)

Maggie,

Oops, I did say I run 2 miles.......sorry about that. Yeah, the sport of CURLING. I do that in the winter months. A match lasts 2 hours, and in that time since I usually throw lead, you walk/run 2 miles up and down the sheet while sweeping your team's stone. It's another form a great exercise, especially upper body. The Skip gets the least amount of exercise, the Vice Skip more than the Skip, but sweeps 2 less stones per end than a lead or a second. (I know, it's a confusing sport). I do get winded, too, so I know I'm working my b__ off!

Oh, and the sport is as much social as it is competitive. And I've met lots of wonderful people. It's one thing my DH and I can do together. In the summer, we are in a croquet league. How funny is that??? (but that doesn't count as exercise...only fun) Check us out:
