There are many great gluten-free cookbooks on the market. Since I am not only gluten-intolerant, but also eat a plant-based diet, it is particularly challenging for me to find a gluten-free cookbook that has recipes that don't require eggs, dairy or oil. Virtually all gluten-free baked goods contain eggs because the flours (rice, sorghum, amaranth, etc.) used do not rise like those which contain wheat.

But I have put this book on order (come out Dec. 6th):

http://www.amazon.com/Complete-Idiots-G ... =1-2-spell

I have read Julianna Heever's other book, Plant Based Nutrition and love it.

If your daughter is not following a plant-based diet, then I would recommend the following:

http://www.amazon.com/000-Gluten-Free-R ... 79&sr=1-15

or

http://www.amazon.com/Gluten-Free-Made- ... 33&sr=1-49

***Also, note that eating a gluten-free diet can cause weight gain for several reasons. First of all, as I said, most gluten-free baked goods require a lot of eggs to make them rise. Rice flour in particular is higher calorie than wheat. Also they are low fiber compared to wheat flour.

Hope this helps. :)

dollmaker,

You can order the vegan (although not fat-free) and gluten-free cookbook, Get Off Gluten by JoAnn Farb here:
http://getoffgluten.blogspot.com/ The website has a lot of good information and some sample recipes - too complicated for everyday (in my household, anyway!), but very good!

We just try to keep it simple, using whole foods! Gluten free oats, brown rice, buckwheat, quinoa, etc, for grains.

A couple of other good recipes sites (one is vegan with gf section, and one is gf with a vegan section) are
blog.fatfreevegan.com/ and
glutenfreegoddess.blogspot.com/

Hope this helps!

I vote for Unprocessed by Chef AJ. Not just gluten-free, but whole food, plant-based and gluten-free. Plus you can watch many of the recipes being prepared on YouTube by "The Chef and the Dietician".
