What a beautiful testimony from Juliea Baker! Thank you so much for that, Juliea, and Dr. McD! I have passed it along to some people, and would like to show it to a mom I know whose son has JRA.

Thanks again, and best wishes for the future, Juliea!:)

The testimony from Juliea is nothing short of wonderful! Thank you for sharing your story, and I am so glad that this way of eating has restored you to a healthy, vibrant 18-year-old! Have a great life with this new health!

What an inspiration! To think that if only even one of the doctors you saw had actually had some real training in nutrition, this nightmare might have been avoided, is sad and appalling. I'm so happy for you, that thanks to your own unwillingness to sit back and do whatever you were told, your mother's persistence (yay Mom!), and most especially, a compassionate and tireless advocate, Dr. McDougall, you now have your life back. What a beautiful young woman you are! You are just coming into adulthood and what should be some of the most exciting years of your life, and I'm so glad for you that you won't be robbed of any of it, by being limited by a debilitating illness, and on toxic medications. Thanks so much Juliea, for sharing your story with us. You will be an inspiration to so many others. - Julie

What a wonderful story!!! Thank you so much for sharing.

I know that you feel like you were so lucky to have read a book that pointed you to a doctor that eventually lead you to good health and a bright future.

But I think that you deserve so much of the credit. There is a saying "when the student is ready the teacher will appear".

You were willing to read a vegetarian book. So many would have passed it by. You and your mom were willing to reach out to a doctor that many think is extreme. You and your mother had an open mind to consider a WOE that most of this society considers radical if not just plain dangerous.

Because you opened your eyes and your mother supported you, you have your health.

So many of us here are because we opened our minds and we reap the benefits. Many of us struggle to help our loved ones. So many on this board have improved their health tremendously and still those close to us suffering do not open their eyes.

I am ever so grateful to Dr. McDougall for presenting so much information free and continuing to speak out loudly for our health. The world is a better place because of him.

Juliea you took responsibility for yourself, you informed yourself and you were so fortunate to have the mother you do.

May you enjoy every minute of your vibrant youth (which can last to your 90s and beyond).

Great testimony. It's wonderful to hear what you've been able to do, and much thanks to Dr. McDougall for showing all of us. I know I'll be sharing your story in the future.

I'm sooo grateful for your testimony for a number of reasons: there's hope for those with JRA and RA, you are young so that lets young people like us know that it's never too early to start thinking about your health, and being an African-American like yourself, it's good to see some representation from someone who looks like me. Because so many blacks suffer from heart disease, diabetes, cancer, and other ailments, it's good for other blacks to see that this diet is for everyone.

Good luck with school and your continued health!
